Sorry folks I didn't see this till today. If you are interested please see below for full instructions. I believe we can send out raw videos from our Barr Library participation that way they can edit them to fit their theme. You are also free to record additional videos using their suggestions below. Please comment on this thread to let me know if you have submitted a video that way I have a head count of Fulcrum base participants.
Dear Rebel Legion members,
I am very excited to announce Rebel Reads - Star Wars Reads webathon event hosted by the Rebel Legion to be broadcast on our Facebook page on November 14th!
The way I see it, there are two major event seasons for the Rebel Legion and other Star Wars costume clubs across the globe. The first of course is May the 4th, and the second is Star Wars Reads. Many of our bases and outposts typically have some great events in this time period where we engage with local schools and libraries, as well as the occasional museum or other academic organizations. As that is not happening this year due to COVID, we will be hosting another webathon, very similar to Rebelthon, but focusing particularly on Star Wars books and comics! We will be celebrating ALL Star Wars books and comics, both Legends and Disney era alike. Like Rebelthon, this will also be a fundraising event, with the beneficiary to be announced soon!
Much like as it was with Rebelthon, we are asking membership to provide us with content for this event! These videos will need to be submitted by November 10th for our video editor. Some examples of pre-recorded membership generated content include:
• In costume pass the book (rather than pass the coin) videos: This could be organized by bases/outposts, and by detachment i.e. RLGS passing around any of the Padme and Leia books, the KJO passing around The Jedi Path, etc., and a catch all Legion wide one for those whose base/outpost/detachment aren't organizing their own.
• In costume 30 second book reviews
• In costume 30 second "why I love this book/comic character" or "why I love this movie/show character in this book"
• Detachments talking about / showing off their book/comic character costumes
• In costume demos from Star Wars DIY books (science, cooking, crafts etc.)
• For the very ambitious, short dramatizations of book scenes or book trailers as long as everyone follows their regional COVID protocols in making them.
• Educators/librarians/etc. talking about how they use Star Wars in the classroom.
• Read aloud Star Wars books in costume.
• Anything else people come up with that fits the theme of literacy and education.
These types of member participation videos are welcome to have entries from the other major Star Wars costume clubs as well. These clubs are: Saber Guild, Mandalorian Mercs, Dark Empire, Droid Builders, and the 501st Legion. Again, video submissions are due by November 10th, and can be sent to RebelReadsRL@gmail.com
Members are welcome to join our planning team and take a larger role as well! Everyone is welcome to participate, and I would especially like to include our members who are educators, librarians, or other relevant professionals in the planning process of this to share their ideas of how they use Star Wars content in the classroom. We are also seeking a small number of members who are both extremely passionate about Star Wars books and good on camera to facilitate interviews with Star Wars book and comic guests. If you are interested in any of these roles, please send an email to RebelReadsRL@gmail.com |
