I've been waiting a long time to submit a post into this thread!
OK, here's the finished helmet...I felt a little nervous because I wasn't sure what direction to take the weathering.

There are so many ways to attack it...so I did a combination of mixed paints to create a color that looked like the grease on our helicopters and thought, "yeah, that will work." As a pilot, I generally pre-flight the aircraft with the helmet on and off, and my hands get dirty, so I tried to re-create dirty hands taking the helmet off and putting it on. Then I finished it off with a little flat black overspray from a few feet away. I applied a clear matte prior to weathering and then re-coated with the matte afterwards. I'm happy with the results.

The top:

A blaster scorch along the top of the helm is a constant reminder of how we cheat death on a constant basis.

My turn, waiting this moment for a long moment Mr. Green

A big thank for Mark, my "Gold Leader" helmet is really great!
And a weathered one, of course... I'm not a rookie, bloody hell Mr. Green

Paintwork done Cool

lining next, weathering next Wink

You might have realised that my final result is not even close to my earlier paintscheme...after i did some colour sample sheets i just had to tweak it cause for me the darkgrey and the khaki just didnt look right...in the end i used J.N.gray, khaki and mixed some orange paint as close as possible to my flightsuit, the Vs come in khaki as well apart from one each side. For the last one i used the same blue as i have used for the squares on the chestbox...personally I'm very pleased with my new scheme and i so look forward to finish the helmet shortly...more pics when its done Wink

So today I could finally take some pictures of my A-wing helmet, that I debuted at CEII. Since I flew but the helmet took a car ride I didn't get it home until today. The helmet is from Luis and the greeblies are from Frank. I also need to credit my mum for all the delicate paintwork, I only came up with the general design and put the base colours on it. I also didn't have time to put any padding inside it.

Well, as ugly as I am I need a bucket to try and hide some of the defects. My old Rubies cracked, and frankly wasn't all that nice. So I present, my almost finished helmet. Still need to install visor, the front crown of the Mohawk, and the lining. Without further ado..

The only thing not permanently attached is the Massif as I am waiting for permission from whoever made it. Now just need to weather it and add one more touch. waiting on Mom to get home cause her hand writing is a lot better than mine. Oh and removed a bit of the edge liner.

Im making the soft pieces that go inside for him. Unfortunately he won't be able to join the Legion because he dosen't like the costume that is the official accepted one. He likes the Jake Feril action figure with the black harnis kit. Even though the white is in the movies he dose not like all that white. I made him an awsome jumpsuit though. I'm still working on him. LOL
