Hey all-

I have updates from our contact for the Blue and Gold Dinner on the 30th. See below:
Our Blue and Gold Dinner is on March 30th at the Laurel American Legion post (address below) from 2PM to 6PM.

2 Main St
Laurel, MD 20707

(301) 725-2302

As I told Bryan White, it would be great if about 6 - 8 characters could attend. Our Blue and Gold dinner theme is Space so I'm going to try to tie in actual space and science stuff of the modern world with the mythos/story of the movies. If you've ever seen "Star Wars Tech" on the History Channel you'll get a better idea. But unlike the general science of "Star Wars Tech" I'm also going to talk about the literary story of the movies as well as other connections to the military, medicine, Information Technology, etc. while, hopefully, pointing out various aspects of the costumes and how they have come "exist" for real. The final, comprehensive, point that ties this to the Cub Scouts is that the boys who saw the original movies back in the 70s and 80s are now the engineers, scientists, etc. that are making the "dreams" a reality and that the cubs can have the same goals.

But I could be off my rocker and it will all blow up in my face. Smile Anyway, your presence will blow the doors off the cubs (7 - 12 year old boys) and probably some of the parents too. We'll have a photo op as well, for a $2 donation, that you guys could then turn around and donate to Friends of Scouting, since telling folks to make sure they bring their cameras might spoil the surprise.

As for the additional details. There are bathrooms to change in that are out of sight of the main hall where the dinner will be. And they are large enough that 3 people could easily change into costume. I would like to do the "surprise" intro at 5PM. You will be able to line up behind a curtain, I'll distract the boys with my science lecture, and then we'll drop the curtain to some John Williams tunes. Depending on the size of the area behind the curtain your guys may be behind it while the Imperial troops queue up in the hallway outside the main dining area so that they can enter to the Imperial March after I intro the Alliance first. From there, we have until 6PM when the event officially concludes. However, we have nobody scheduled behind us by the American Legion so we may "loiter" past 6PM, if you can, for photos, autographs, etc.

Thanks a million for doing this. I hope all goes well. If you could, when you find out, please let me know how many and what characters will be coming. Also, if you need more info let me know as soon as you can. Thanks.

Craig,

Don has offered to come in his Jedi. Do you want him to do that?

Absolutely. It would be nice to have a decent Rebel presence there.

I'm glad you asked because there was some confusion about the time on my part. The entire event is from 2pm-6pm, but Mr. Stahl would like to do the Star Wars intro at 5pm. I would say we need to be there to suit up no later than 4pm.

So, for everyone attending: BE THERE NO LATER THAN 4PM.

I am so sorry - I was just informed that I have no one to watch my padawan, after all. If I can bring him, we will come, if not, I will have to bow out. Sad

(If everyone is going someplace afterwards to eat, maybe we could meet you there, though.)

Sorry.

I had fun, especially when the one little boy from my class was creeped out that the Jawa knew his name. Laughing

That was a blast! I had so much fun. :-) The scouts were very gracious and it was great to see a strong Terrapin presence. Whoo Whoo!
