I always like to work on multiple costume projects at the same time so that I can work one while I collect items for another or when I get stuck. I started collecting Items for my female Bespin trooper while working on my other two Battlefront costumes because I can re-use some of the equipment. I bought the black boots last year and the royal-blue hooded sweat jacket and gray tank top last week. The dark brown leather gloves are the gloves for my BF2 Tatooine specialist and the medium brown leather gloves are from my rebel vanguard. The belt, pouches, wrist-com, and rank badge are from my BF1 female desert trooper and shared are by all three costumes. I have a Hasbro DH-17 and a Hasbro EE-3 that I can use with this costume. I usually prefer my DH-17 over any of my EE-3, DL-44 or A300 because I think it is the most iconic rebel blaster.

I collected in-game references and references from the character selection menu.

I do not know if I am going with very short hair like the dark-skinned woman, with a short bob wig or with a light gray donut and medium gray AN-H 15 flight cap yet. I would love to do the short hair but I do not have references of all the side of her in the Bespin uniform. I only have them for the desert trooper. For some reason the call her bald but she has hair it is just very short. The cybernetic female and the Zabrak are bold female characters. This costume will be worn in the summer so I would prefer not to wear a wig or a helmet. The wig is itchy and the helmet is too hot. I only wore my desert trooper helmet, which is similar in many ways, for a very short time and it was also very hot.

Hairstyle requirements typically only apply to hero characters. Troopers are generic, and you can wear most any haircut you want.

Charter:

Quote:
The Rebel Legion accepts generic costumes. Generic costumes are costume types that are prevalent in the Star Wars universe, that are iconic and include costume components or uniforms that are easily recognizable as belonging to that character type. Costumes that allow for some variability include (but are not limited to): Jedi, uniformed pilots, uniformed troopers, Wookiees.
For these costumes, there are required components that are commonly seen with each character of that type, optional components that are seen on only some characters of that type, and room for variation (e.g., hair color and style).

(emphasis added)

As this is a costume without a standard, there is also the possibility that it will be deemed necessary for the helmet to be required for the costume to be "easily recognizable." This was the case for the RFT in the past.

Standards are written by the detachment members, and often by those submitting costumes. The Legion Membership Officer (LMO) has final say over costume approvals and inclusion.

It is ok if the helmet will be a requirement. Yesterday I decided I will build the donut helmet and AN-H 15 soft cap as well after I found an inexpensive original AN-H 15 in the size medium on German eBay and ordered it. The snap buttons are very rusty, it has a weird metal hook and it does not have the leather pieces but the rubber ear cups looked good. I will measure it and use it as a model to create my own gray flight cap out of my husband's old work pants. The AN-H 15 is a part of history and should not be changed if it is not necessary. I am going to ask my friend if he can print me the donut that Kman used for it Endor trooper from Thingiverse.

My AN-H 15 arrived this morning. It is very dirty. I am going to wash it by hand and let it dry before I measure it. The snaps buttons are very rusty but the rubber of the ear cups is in good shape. The cap is a medium but looks small to me. It won't be a problem because I am only using it as a model for my mock-ups. I wanted to use the ear cups for my gray cap but they seem to be sewed on or glued on. I might have to take the cap apart to get to them.

My original AN-H 15 flight helmet did not survive being washed very well. It had many holes, the fabric was very thin and it felt like it would fall apart very soon, so I decided to take it apart and draw a pattern. Perhaps the dirt was the only thing keeping it together. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to wash it before I worked with it. It was so dirty, even my husband Ralf did not want it on my dinner table which is also my sewing table because it was just nasty. It is not very visible on the pre-wash photos that I took but the water that I had to change 5 times told a different story. It just did not want to get clean so Ralf put it into the washing machine on a cold delicate program.

There was already a missing snap on the left side before I washed it and post-wash the repair patch started to come off too. It also did not have the fabric on the forehead. I could see that it used to have one but someone cut it out. The chin strap is also missing. I guess the dirt, as well as the wear and tear, were the reason why it was so cheap. I only paid 33 Euros for it.

The AN-H 15 was a medium but fit my small head like a glove. That was strange because I usually wear XS or S in hats or helmets.

Post-wash photos:

I bought two hooded sweat jackets and one hooded sweatshirt in different shades of blue in the largest size I could find. The left one is royal-blue, the middle one is azure blue and the right one is light blue aka sky blue. The tank top in the center of the second photo is the light gray tank top that I want to use for this costume. I think the sky blue hoody is the one that is closest to blue in the reference screencaps. The royal blue is too dark and the azure blue is too greenish. I like wearing hoodies and my favorite color is blue so I do not mind having the ones that I cannot use for the costume.

Based on the photos I agree. This may be the closest you will find without having to make it. For the long cuff I would take off that part of the lower arm, and create a smaller tube for the extended cuff area. You could run lengthwise stitches for the knit appearance.

I am planning on using the original cuff material and the waistband material to make longer cuffs. I want to take them off first. Then unfold them. Next, I would sew an unfolded cuff piece to an unfolded waist piece. The seams will be hidden by the gloves on one side and will lock correctly were the cuffs are sewn to the sleeves. I hope to be able to iron out the former folding edge.

Making the hooded jacket is not really an option. One yard of sweatshirt fabric cost as much as one of those jackets. I do not fancy ordered such an expensive fabric and then finding out it is the wrong color. You can order fabric and color samples from some companies but not all give you that option.
