Hello, everyone!

I have a Force Relics lightsaber that has an all aluminium machined body, with flat black powder coated accents. However, I don't like the way the color scheme is on the saber, and would like to change it. What would be the best way to remove the powder coating and not damage the lightsaber? My plan is to remove the powder coating (however that needs to be done), and then repaint the saber to my liking with automotive paints.

Internet says, that if you do not like current powder coating, its a proper primer as well. You should be able to repaint it, if you sand it before. In case you want to do weathering, a black layer under the top one may be even advantageous.

Painting over the powder coating would work, but then color matching becomes an issue. The lightsaber is only powder coated on some sections, and bare metal on the rest. There's a section around the neck that has full powder coating on it that shouldn't have gotten any.
