Hello!
I have decided to build my own RFT uniform, so I thought I’d report in here.
I currently live in Germany, so I’ll be ordering my helmet from a local source (Franky Vahlke, who made a beautiful Imperial Gunner helmet for me earlier this year).
I’ve ordered three surplus U.S. Navy chambray work shirts to adapt into the bibbed shirt.
I have black and light grey twill fabrics on hand, so I’ll be sewing my own pants and vest. As a tall, fluffy woman, I had trouble finding the right size for the pants, since the most commonly used ones were obviously designed for men. In addition, getting a pair shipped here to Germany (even with my APO address) would have cost way too much money for such a simple sewing project. Sewing my own vest also makes more sense, since I can more easily adjust the design to fit my body.
I already have jack boots for my pilot costumes, so that part of the costume is already finished.
The belt (and holster?) will be ordered after I do more research, as will the DH-17.
I’m looking forward to getting this done! It looks like a fun and comfortable costume. |

Hi Roxanne,
it is great to see you over here in RAID. Franky Vahlke made Ralf's and my RFT helmet. I love the helmets. They are very good for a low price. I agree that it is difficult to find good pants if you do not fit the mold so to speak. That is why made my own pants with light grey twill fabric that I bought at a local store.
I can highly recommend the RFT belt and holster that Friedel D i c k h u t from the German Garrison makes. Our holster is made to fit the Hasbro DH-17 but I am sure that he could make one that fits another makers DH-17. A second good German source for belts and belt boxes is Klaus Windstosser from the GG. He also makes nice original trilogy and Rogue One rank badges if you are interested in one of those. His shop is called Klaus' Frässtüberl on Facebook. Philo from the Italian Garrison makes belts and belt boxes. You can contact him via his Etsy Shop PhiloProps. Our belt boxes are from him. There is also a great source for belts and holsters that is located in the USA. His name is Bobby Stout aka DarmansProps on eBay and Etsy. _________________ RIAD GRRRL-Squad-Leader 2019-present
