In a photo gallery of Adam Savage's tested I found a DH-17 that looks like the ones used in ESB. The photo was taken at the traveling exhibition Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination. https://www.tested.com/art/movies/460511-photo-gallery-star-wars-prop-and-costume-exhibition/item/img_9988/

The label says " Rebel DH-17 blaster, prop, Star Wars Episodes IV-VI. The label is not correct because it does not look like the DH-17 ANH and I cannot find any screencaps of DH-17 in ROTJ.

The DH-17 ESB has a scope similar to the DH-17 ANH but the front cap is dark instead fo clear. It has to be carried grip forward in a right-hand holster because there is a magazine on the left side which is in the way. There is some kind of rod under the scope but there are no cooling vents which can be seen on the Topps trading card and some toys.

For ESB, the scope are clear because they were resin casts of the original Singlepoint scopes which were used in ANH. The original (real) Singlepoint scopes had a clear tip with a red light tube. They just painted the castings all black for ESB, rather than trying to recreate that detail.

Thank you, kman for adding the information about the scope of the DH-17 ESB. So the DH-17 ANH had real Singlepoint scopes were as the DH-17 ESB had resin cast version.

May I ask where you found your reference of the whole gun? I have not seen that photo yet. It is not a DH-17 ESB but rather the version I talk about in my thread Is this a DH-17 ROTJ that was never used in the movie http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=113009

The DH-17 ESB has some kind of holder under the rod (red arrow) that this version does not have. This version also has cooling vents (green arrow) and screws on the scope attachments (blue arrows) that are missing from the DH-17 ESB.

I bought the book The Making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Enhanced Edition) Kindle Edition with Audio/Video this morning. It is on sale for 4.76 USD or 4.24 Euros and I just could not resist. I was hoping to find some behind the scene shots of the DH-17 ESB and there were some.

There was a scene of Wampa's invading Echo base that landed on the cutting floor. The completely black scope, the rod underneath, and the magazine on the left side are clearly visible. In the last three references, you can see that the DH-17 was worn grip forward in a right-hand holster or grip backward in a left-hand holster so that the magazine was not in the way.
