SOUTH BOSTON ST. PATRICK'S PARADE
SUNDAY, MARCH 16th, 2008

Parade Route:

Of note: The route is about 4 miles long, with lots of hills.
Directions to parking are below the following updated information:
Parking
NEW PARKING LOCATION AT GILLETTE HEADQUARTERS!!!!
58 Dorchester Ave, Boston MA 02127
This is RIGHT NEXT TO the start point. Very Happy

PARADE INFO:

Everyone needs to be at the start point by 10AM.
RIDES to and from the event should be secured at least 2 to 3 days in advance.

A bus has been booked and will pick folks up at the end of the parade route (the Target plaza) to transport back to the parking area. The bus is reserved to make multiple trips if needed until 4:30 PM.

SECURITY:
command staff of NEG has done a lot of behind the scenes discussion regarding our troop's safety during the parade.
They'd like to see a few procedures put into play to avoid as many problems as possible

1) Use of FRS radios to keep the wranglers in touch better.

2) Increase the number of wranglers walking on the edges of the parade route to act as a barrier between the fans and us .

3) The NEG won't say not to approach the fans on the side of the streets but they WILL say that they strongly discourage it for this parade. Due to the rowdy nature of the crowds, the public drinking, etc... They are advising against the common practice of walking to the side, shaking hands and stopping for pictures. If you want to do this, you MUST have a wrangler/handler/security person with you.

We will not be doing any theme for this parade.
This will be a "general" Star Wars Parade.

Although that is an awesome pilots helmet, I think Boston is just abit too far for a parade, for me at least. Although I know aout 20 people going to various colleges up there, maybe If I can work something out at the airport for tickets, and meet up with some folk when i get there? But I dont know if itll happen Neutral

I would love to be able to go, but I think this one is just a bit long. I would be crawling on my hands and knees about half way through it.

I really wish I could attend this one but I'm already out of town that weekend. Thanks for the invite though Justin.
