Star Wars may have started out as just a sci-fi movie, but it has become so much more than that. In the forty something years since the first film was released, Star Wars has become a world wide phenomenon, spanning eleven movies, multiple live action and animated series, books, action figures, clothing, and countless other merchandise. It spawned international costuming clubs like the Rebel Legion, 501st, Mandalorian Mercs, and more, who do great work for charity. This franchise has positively impacted people from all over the world, fans all over the world have long held May the Fourth as international Star Wars day. Now it's time to make that day official, and make May the Fourth a Public Holiday.

I could use another day off, but highly unlikely as an official designation as such will need the consent of the country's politicians to pass the law...I'm not sure how many countries around the world would actually do this for a film franchise...

I seriously doubt it will ever happen, but I figured no harm in trying.
