Well, not "new" exactly... I used to have one, sold it, and made another a year or so later.

From the pilot standards thread, I used the costumebay flight suit and vest.

I made a bunch of changes to the vest:

- shortened shoulder straps
- added tubing to the front and back
- removed the velcro waist strap, replacing it with the proper insertion locks
- added an accurate adjustment thing to the back

The flight suit is unmodified (well, legs are shortened, but that was just a fit thing).

Boots are of the German officer variety.

Flares, arm tools and chest box knob from elvistrooper. Chest box from mansugi (I forget his username here - that's the RPF one). Helmet by Richies, paint by me.

Ejections straps, belt, leg flare holder by me.

A couple of shots of things I thought were interesting enough to share. Note the closeup of the orange fabric. That both shows the weathering, and the sort of material the costumebase suit is made of.

I put little wire hooks into the flare holder to keep it where I wanted it. Since the boots are really tall, I went with wearing it around the boot rather than on top (Like Luke in the Visual Dictionary)

Everything is gently weathered with black, several shades of grey, and a couple of shades of brown. Just enough that it doesn't look shiny and new:

Only one pic loaded for me but it looks great. I recently made several upgrades to my pilot. It's almost finished. I might want to get a new chest box too.

Great job on putting the costume together, Brian.

Your other option is to use money clips for the leg flare holder. Looks more professional.

i had thought about that... i had 1 money clip left over from my stormie, and just the one didn't seem to hold the band up well.

i didn't want to go to the store Smile
