I wasn't trying to suggest that we should go down to extreme hidden details, because I'm already way down the rabbit hole and don't need to go further. It definitely looks like elastic with a square for interior Velcro in those closeups, and elastic would make sense for a high flex area. Just happened to see a photo that made it look like there were hooks or something too.

And I wasn't meaning to say you were being too picky. I just think that overall, we could chill a little as a group. But there's a danger in being too chill. I dunno. Walking the line is hard. Writing these things is brutal. Because wording it is very difficult - I was intimidated of RL for years. I cosplayed for a long, long time before joining, because the standards are scary. Then you finally do it*, and it's not so bad. But they can be overwhelming to a n00b.

*I'd never have joined if another member hadn't seen me at a con in one of mine and encouraged me to. The website and standards were way to scary and specific. I'm not sure how to remedy that part of it. I don't know that there is a way.

And I agree with you. There's something there.

Adjustments made. Having not built the costume, I'm not the best person to clarify some of the confusingly worded sentences -- highlighted in blue are some things in question that I didn't know how to address - please feel free to word things exactly as you'd like them to appear in the standard!

Tried to address other things in red.

- Front and back panels have a raised hexagonal pattern. The same material and pattern is also used on the pants panels.

Can that be phrased some way to say it should be the same pattern and material but not necessarily the same color? On the actual costume, the top is black or clear printed pattern on black while on the pants it appears to be black printed pattern on teal fabric. I know the YaYa Han fabric has been accepted so all one color is accepted, but I would hate to have the wording ruling out having two colors.

For the knife, I would say wooden or wood-appearing handle. I think like with blasters, most people will be 3-D printing and painting to appear to be wood.

Sorry to be a pain, but there's a couple minor editorial things I noted reading it again (overall it is amazing!). Adding suggested edits in red. (So sorry!)

Back plate is centered vertically between waistband and collar and stretches horizontally to meet the underarm panel seams on both sides.

Front plate should be centered just below neckline and stretches nearly to each shoulder bell, though these pieces should not touch.

Collar attaches around the neckline of the top and scoops in towards the wearer’s neck; height should be nearly the full height of the wearer’s neck.

Collar is made from a rubber or hard material of either muted black or dark grey and shall be bordered in the same thick black leather-like piping as the top’s neckline.

The center back of the collar has a vertical seam with topstitching on either side. There should be a dark teal stripe painted over this seam and extending to approx. 1/8” past the topstitching lines.

Other: From the Cara Dune build group, there has debate on the size of the teal hip belt, anywhere from 3.5-4.5" wide total. It looks like an earlier comment on this thread put it at 4" (with 0.5" edging) total as confirmed by the person on set. Is there any potential leeway in the RL proposed standard for language about it being proportional to the wearer or other pieces? 2.5/3.5" total seems on the small side.

There has also been some debate about if the boot straps around the boots are all the same size or if the bottom ones are perhaps slightly smaller (3/4").

I've been staring at this costume for months... I apologize for the nit-pickiness. Overall, it's one of the most detailed, precise and helpful new standards I have seen!
