Free time and random photos lead to me finding new costumes to pursue. Someone else just finished this costume and I loved what she did so decided to give this costume the old college try. Mr. Green

I checked out the standards and they are pretty straightforward.

While I could make a bodysuit, I just didn't want to if I'm being honest (Mara Jade was enough for me for awhile), so I found a great one on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I390ZQI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also ordered this balaclava.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GCKB3GD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I already own a pair of white, knee high boots so will be using them as a base and then adding the fur.

Speaking of the fur, I lucked out! I had purchased fur for my Qi'ra jacket and had a bunch leftover. I also had a bottle of RIT dye in my stash (Sapphire Blue) and dyed the fur before I left for the day. The color took great!

I made quick stop at JoAnn's and found white fleece on sale as well as a darker blue satin to line the cape with. I purchased these in white and plan to dye them just as I did the fur.

I already own a pair of white gloves so will be using those and adding fur to them as well.

I am hoping to use my Geonosis pouch and holster for this but if it won't work, I have just enough spare leather to make new ones. The blaster is also one I own from another costume approval so it is taken care of as well.

Hope to update this thread with photos of what I bought once I have better lighting. Looking forward to making a new costume. It's been awhile. Mr. Green

As is the case with most of my costumes, I got in the zone and finished everything yesterday. I ended up not using the fleece and used a white, matte knit I had in my stash instead and I'm glad I did. The drape is much nicer with it.

I used this pattern for the cape.
http://www.eg.bucknell.edu/~lwittie/sca/garb/cloak.html

For the hood, I used hood pattern from Simplicity 1771 and made it bigger by 5 inches.

The lining I used was great and has a nice color to it. When I bought it, the rep helping me asked if I was making an Elsa. I laughed and said, "You know me. It's Star Wars. Always Star Wars."

For reference, my white fabric was 60" wide and I used 5.5 yards and the same in the blue fabric. I also purchased white ribbon for the strings to keep the cape closed.

The pom poms took the dye color wonderfully and I was able to sew the ribbon directly to them.

The main work for this costume is the cape so once that was done, I was able to get everything done in less than an hour. I cut out strips of the fur and stitched them to the gloves as well as made a cuff to velcro to the boots.

Here is the fur after I dyed it. Really pleased with the color. I made sure to use the dishwasher soap as recommended on the bottle and used half a bottle to dye a little over a yard and a half.

I took submission photos and will be sending them in shortly.

Looks great! You went with the short pile sheepskin rather than longer fur?

I went with what I had which saved me money. Standard says fur and doesn’t specify. Mr. Green

I really wish we could see what the rest looks like; no pompoms or boots or fur on boots and gloves are visible in the photo. I'd like to see it all together. Smile
I don't think I've ever seen anyone try this with a short ply fur before. It's quite different from a longer ply.

I've worked with the other ply before and it affects my allergies so I can't wear it. I sneeze like crazy. LOL

Too much dust? Rolling Eyes One of my dream costumes involve long faux fur, but I haven't ever had a problem with that. Smile

I suppose I could ask my doctor for the exact terminology as to what specifically is causing it but since I’m allergic to pollen, mold in AC ducts, dogs, cats, penicillin , bee stings, and a host of other things, I never bothered to go back to retest and get all those shots all over again. Familiarity with the symptoms and to know when to not be by something causing it is enough for me. Thank goodness for Claritin.

Perhaps you can one day find a fabric that works for you for your costume. Very Happy

Congratulations. Smile

Yeah, allergies are a pita. I'm just glad that the faux fur doens't seem an issue for me. Finding the right color is another matter... (At least at a price I'm willing to pay).
