I am new to this group, so I don't know if this is a good place to post this, but I felt compelled to share the news that my dear friend and ILM colleague, Patty Blau has passed away. Patty is someone who should have an honorary membership in the Rebel Legion or 501st, if she doesn't have one already. I don't think she ever did. She started at ILM with Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark. She's been involved in every Star Wars film since ESB and so many other terrific films as a visual effects supervisor, producer and was eventually the ILM Vice President.
Patty was also a tremendously gifted artist with a very whimsical humor. She loved dogs and birds. She used to foster both in her home and was a compassionate supporter of the Mickaboo Bird Rescue.
Patty's genious and joy for life was ripped from her by an early onset Alzheimer's diagnosis several years ago. She had recently gone to a care facility as the ALZ had progressed too much for her to stay at home. Her health was good and she was still as positive and joyful as ever when I'd visit her. Even though she could no longer speak without jumbling her words, we had really good visits. About mid August, just after she turned 64, she started having seizures. This created a very quick downward spiral.
She passed peacefully last night. I am so heartbroken. I know as I go out to RL events, I will be not only "Doing it for Carrie", but for Patty now too.

I’m sorry for your loss, and the loss to her family & community. I’m glad to help with any sort of posthumous recognition we offer for her. I just browsed through IMDB, and it’s sad that we don’t hear of her more often, she had quite a career.

Thanks for sharing, I'm so sorry to hear your friend and such a great contributor to Star Wars and Lucasfilm has passed away. Let me browse the list of HMs. The thing with HMs is we often had to have a way to get the membership presented to the person. It often took someone knowing them. So that would explain why she perhaps did not have an Honorary membership.

I'd also be willing to help contribute to a posthumous recognition if the legion leadership approves it. It looks like Lego already started a request thread. But now we need someone to present it to, if you perhaps know of any family members who can accept on her behalf?

This is the request thread BTW if you want to chime in Smile http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=108390

Thanks Kay_Dee. Things seem to be moving along / Lebo1138's help.
Thank you!
