For the time being. Which is why, again, I'd advise potential pilots to bite the bullet and get a better helmet from the beginning. If the standards change at some point down the road, you'll be better off spending the extra cash now and getting the more accurate helmet, rather than using the cheap helmet and having to upgrade.

Yeah...what Ed says. Now if you already have one, use it. If you don't have one....wait. It will be worth it.

Actually Don, what Ed's saying is ...

If you currently have a Don Post/Rubies helmet you may continue to use if for the time being ... HOWEVER ... there exists the possibility that the helmet requirement may be altered/tightened in the future.

Therefore ...

(A) If you're considering doing the pilot costume, it would probably behoove you to look into a more accurate helmet model.

(B) If you're looking to upgrade, the same advice applies, and

(C) If you haven't been planning on upgrading, now might be a good time to start considering your vendor options. (... and/or saving your $$.)

Has anyone talked with the boys at Dreadnaught recently? I'm a proud owner of one of their helmets, but since rebel pilots are growing in numbers...are they gonna be able to keep up with the demand? I know in the past, there's been long back-orders on buckets from them.

"Pssst...you guys are about to become REAL popular!" Surprised

That's one reason I'd advise keeping the DPs as an option. If anyone saw Charkboy try on my helmet...thankfully we didn't have to call out a search team to find him. Laughing

The helmet I'm wearing in my sig bar is a Dreadnaught/Wilco, and as you can see I'm swimming in it. So if the new-coming helmets fit better, I'm going to be looking to sell my current helmet off...

Any update on whether these new helmets will offer paint schemes?

Hey Bryan, maybe Gil can run another workshop and we can paint then?
I've got a steady hand and have been known to lay a nice line of paint.
I'm turning to the Orange Side and have found a good flight suit ready
for serious mods. I'm looking and saving for a nice helmet that won't spin
round like something out a Three Stooges gag! Any recommendations for
folks with little noggins?

Annie

I'm actually looking into doing a bulk helmet buy.
Still working out the details & waiting for a call back from the supplier.

I've decided to put together an X-Wing pilot cotume, as at an event today, a lady walked up to me and said "Are you Wedge Antilles? You look a lot like him."

Since he is my favorite character, I am going to make that happen.

I will be watching for the announcements on the helmets, as now I need one. :-)
