I haven’t been able to find any info on this. Is it a clip? A strap? Is there a part I need to buy? How is it everyone knows how to do this but me? Lol.

There is a small loop/strap that is sewn onto the zipper cover of the coveralls-- TFA pilots had either a strap of the same material as their suit or one of charcoal or silver-gray webbing, TLJ pilots mostly just had the charcoal/silver-grey webbing strap). The chestbox clips to that strap.

On the back of the chestbox there should be a metal clip attached to it, which will clip it onto the suit strap mentioned above. You can use pretty much whatever kind of clip you want as it really wont be seen, anyway, but it's not uncommon for people to use the belt clip from a measuring tape. That's what I used... I picked up a measuring tape from the Dollar Tree and took the clip off of it. If you go that route be sure to put two screws into the clip so that it doesn't rotate around on you.

Many thanks. I was losing my mind trying to figure this out. I thought there was a clip as part of that plastic plate on the vest. Which validated the existence of said plate. But I guess that plate was just eye candy.
