According to the existing resistance pilot standard, the optional holster is described thus:
2. Screen accurate dark-grey shaped holster secured with rivets/Chicago screws and affixed to the belt via a loop of grey webbing/strapping, with accurately modeled and colored Glie-44 Erliss Ryloth Defense Tech Pistol.
Looking in TLJ Visual Dictionary, you can seen a number of pilots with holsters made from what appears to be brown leather. Would it be OK to use this as an option for a TLJ X-Wing jockey? |

Not sure about the brown holsters, but Poe's is a more drop-down style in this movie, with a longer strap to the belt, and thigh strap made of light gray webbing. Otherwise, it's the same holster. _________________ Generic Clone Wars-era Jedi

Agree with Phil this appears to be the same grey holster the TFA X-Wing pilots had, just a longer grey strap off the belt to the holster, and a leg strap.
That said the leather holsters have a couple of variations between the transport and ski speeder pilots, officers, and troopers. |

Poe wasn't the subject of my question. I'm talking about a generic X-wing pilot. The current Resistance pilot CRL details "Screen accurate dark-grey shaped holster secured with rivets/Chicago screws and affixed to the belt via a loop of grey webbing/strapping."
Available TLJ references show other Resistance pilots, but not of X-wings, sporting a brown leather holster. It could be argued with reasonable logic that this would be comparable to Finn's drop holster. Unless there's an undercover leatherworker in a dark corner of the fleet knocking out bespoke leather holsters, of course, at a reasonable rate with no questions asked.
My question is if a non-Poe TLJ X-wing pilot is allowed the brown leather holster as other crafts' are? |

Geoff,
Good question - with all the references so far I kind of thought X-wings had their own kit, including the grey holster. It’s possible some of the X-wing pilots could have worn the brown leather holster, maybe it’s in the movie? Looking forward to the digital copy to see more details with the pilots. I got a brown holster for the transport pilot and ground trooper for now, while the CRLs get sorted for TLJ.
And agree a lot of resistance gear seems to be common issue/reusable, right down to helmet decals.

Don't know if it matters much here, but many of the troopers and officers holsters are brown, so maybe some of the pilot ones are as well???

So does the Glie 44 holster have to be grey?
Or can it be brown. As this is the 1 thing that is holding me up from submitting my outfit. |

Do you have any pictures of pilots wearing a brown leather holster? That would solve the problem. I seem to remember some of the bomber crew having brown holsters but I can't swear to that . _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

From what I remember, there were pilots of other craft with brown holsters but not X-Wings. |

Poe is basically a generic Resistance X-wing pilot, with Oscar Isaac added. You do see a couple pilots running by in TFA that have sidearms (with gray holsters), but for the most part, most pilots actually do NOT have sidearms:
More pilots in TLJ, Poe the only one visible with a sidearm (gray holster):
(NOTE: Oh noooooo!!! Looks like Snap isn't the only one with a gray loop below the collar.)
I know, I'm digressing here, but holsters are gray for Resistance X-wing. But if it's an issue, just remember that sidearms are optional for pilots.
You do see brown leather holsters in TLJ, but only on uniformed officers and troops in the battle on Crait. _________________ Generic Clone Wars-era Jedi
