Tython Troop Report

Event: HubCon 2019

Location: Blue Mountains Theatre & Community Hub

Date/ Time: 13/07/2019 -14/07/2019 9am-5pm

Weather: Sunny but cold and windy. (Typical mountains weather Laughing )

Legionaries:
Jessica Billingsby -Jawa
Chantel Baker- Hera
Matt Billingsby- Imperial officer
Jade Pemberton- Sandtrooper (Sunday only)

Wranglers:
Andy Price
Katy Chapman
Robert Frosh (Saturday only)

Mission Report:
Jess, Matt and I arrived at 8am Saturday morning and approached HubCon staff who then led us to our table area. We didn't have a change room, so we hunted down a bathroom within the venue to kit up. Con opened at 9, Andy had some car troubles, so the 3 of us held the fort until around 11 when he arrived with the con box. Robert and Katy showed up not long later to help wrangle. It got pretty busy and stayed that way all day, we did a lot of interacting with the public and recruited some potential new members.

Matt and I ended up in the local newspaper: https://www.bluemountainsgazette.com.au/story/6272109/pop-culture-fans-flock-to-blue-mountains-hubcon/#slide=20

Sunday was pretty dead. The fandom room where we were was empty a lot of the time, so Jade was outside trying to draw people in, and some of us ended up walking around the rest of the con a bit. Jess and I played Go Fish in the library where there was a Star Wars themed photo booth and a bunch of board games set up.

Jess found a section where they were letting people make badges, so we ended up making badges of Andy's trading cards. The sandy had a go while in kit.

Mission Status: Success. For a first con it went pretty well. It was nice to finally have the opportunity to troop in my area instead of having to travel.

Brilliant! Thanks for this. Looks like a great local convention.
