Fellow Rebels-

I have been contacted by Stephen Jacobson of the BSO and he has an excellent event lined up that he would love us to attend. See below:

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will be presenting concerts on January 17, 18,
19, and 20, 2008 entitled "Sci-Fi Spectacular". The concerts will feature music
from many Sci-Fi movie's and television shows including Star Wars, Star Trek,
ET, Close Encounters, Etc. Complementing the orchestra will be a cast of
vocalists and actor George Takei from Star Trek.

We would like to have as many people as possible in costume for the hour prior
toeach concert and during intermission interacting with our patrons. Below are
the specific concert dates, times, and locations:

Thursday, January 17, 2008; 8:00 pm at the Music Center at Strathmore, North
Bethesda, MD
Friday, January 18, 2008; 8:00 pm at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall,
Baltimore, MD
Saturday, January 19, 2008; 8:00 pm at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall,
Baltimore, MD
Sunday, January 20, 2008; 3:00 pm at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall,
Baltimore, MD

We will be able to offer a limited number of parking vouchers and a dressing
area to those who attend. We can also work on getting discounted tickets for
your entire group.

We look forward to your participation in this event!

Best,

Stephen Jacobsohn

This sounds like a great event. I am going to contact Echo and Freedom and see if they would be interested as well.

I need to get Mr. Jacobsohn a head count as soon as I can so please let me know if you can make it and which nights.

I'll be back in Glen Burnie by that time, so I'm a possible. I don't know downtown Baltimore that well yet though, as I've only been up there once, and that was at the ESPN SportsZone on the inner harbor.

I don't know what my availability will be; that weekend is Winter Campaign, and also the Cub Scout's Pinewood Derby. I'll have to check and post back.

Thanks!

No problem, just let me know when you can.

Marty-

I live in the Glen Burnie area as well so if you'd like to attend PM me and I'd be happy to arrange meeting up and car-pooling if need be.

Winter Campaign has ben cancelled, so I might be able to come out on Sunday. I may have a padawan in tow, if that's alright. I need to check logistics, so I'll give you a firm Yea or Nay tomorrow.

BTW - Is is possible to have a post, either the first or second one, that get's updated with who is going to the event, and when? Another group with forums like this does that, and it is really helpful for planning purposes.

Thanks!

I am very sure that this is not a kid friendly event, since they would have to sit very quietly through the performance and follow strict directions.

I have spoken with Stephen, our BSO contact and he informed me that children would not be ideal for the event. Just a heads-up.

I will certainly post an update on who we have going on which days. Can everyone PM or post in this thread which days they plan to attend?

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I didn't realize we would be staying for the performance; I thought we'd just be doing "meet-and-greet" stuff in the lobby. BTW - I will probably always ask about bringing him, but I take absolutely no offense at being told "Not to this event". I am under no illusions that he's well-suited for everything we do. I just need to know, so I know what kind of arrangements to make.

And now I need to make arrangements. If I can get the grandparents to sit, TD1529 and I will be at the 3:00pm on Sunday. I will confirm tomorrow, or tonight, if I get computer access.

Thanks!

OMG this event was so much fun. We got to go in and watch the performance, and then afterwards, meet George Takei. He is really great. I'm very glad that we get to go and to this for 2 more performances. Thanks for setting this up Craig Dance Chewie

I had an awesome time last night and wish I could make every performance. As it stands I hope tonight is going as well as last night and I am looking forward to being back there tomorrow. As for the accolades, I'm glad everyone is enjoying it but the real credit goes to Bryan to put me in touch with Stephen at the BSO.

I am so tired...but the event rocked! I would not have missed it for the world!

A lady came up to me and said "Are you Wedge Antilles? You look just like him."

I was in my Fleet Trooper at the time. Now she has me thinking. Wedge is my favorite character, so now I think I will make an X-Wing pilot costume and become Wedge. Cool
