I received a great mask from Evil Chimp, however my head is too large for the strapping he attached. I also noticed the loop plastic pieces tend to feed the strapping through easily causing it to unstrap. How do you strap your mask? Velcro would have the best hold but seems like a big NO with hair. |

I do indeed use an elastic Velcro strap for my mask along with the welder's liner built into the mask. However, I plan to use the back of a hockey goalie's mask for my Ryan Ricks kit. I got both ideas from others' build threads.
I'd also highly recommend a computer blower/fan for it too

Hi!
Could you share some pics of that area of the mask. I am also awaiting for my mask to be shipped (first week of Feb I believe) and have a large head, so that is worrying for me, hope it fits. _________________ No Wookiee = No Party.

I used a normal belt for pants.
Just pull and fasten and use the holes |

Would anyone be so kind as to post a pic or two so that I could see how you are doing this? I need to add to my ECFX! _________________ No Wookiee = No Party.

Robert, this is absolutely excellent visual aid! Many, many thanks!
I do actually have a couple questions as I have an Evil Chimp mask and they seem slightly different.
1. It appears you have simply "dremmelled" a slit in the fiber cast and added the velcro, please let me know if that is the case.
2. The top filling looks like uphoalstry foam or similar, I haev plenty of that left over from the Wampa build, so no issue; but what is the darker yellow stuff that "protects" the end of it? I mean, I get the cutting and fitting of the foam, but I need to stick it and protect it with something, not sure I understand what that stuff is (?).
Thanks once again!
EDIT: JOE, sorry for the thread highjack, just thought we could both benefit on one thread instead of opening another and it seems we are in the same boat with the EC mask!
This is mine:

Not sure what darker yellow stuff that "protects" you are referring too. It may be that the foam is aged a bit. I have nothing on the foam as a covering. Literally foam and hot glue to fiberglass. The bridge of nose and cheeks are just moleskin. Chin is also foam.
You are correct that I just dremmeled out a grove to run the elastic thru though.
Feel free to pm me if you need more details. We can take our conversation off the forums as well. _________________ RL Han Solo Archive and information

Tom - that's exactly how mine looks as I also have the Evil Chimp mask. Unlike Roberts we don't have anything for the top of our head to sit in. This mask is truly a mask like a baseball catchers mask. The problem I have is the weight - have you tried to move the mouth? For me it pushes down the mask. |

Yes it does pull the mask down, but I believe Dave probably ships like this to avoid damage. You will have to loosen the nuts on the side of the jaw a little onc you have the foam in place. _________________ No Wookiee = No Party.

I'm looking around to find something that would put the pressure on the top of my head, instead of just having the mask move down my face during troops. |

I also have an Evil Chimp mask. Tom, if you're able to post some pictures of your process when you get to it, I'd be extremely grateful. This is the most daunting part of the kit of me... |
