Commander Lindon Javes is the commanding officer of Vanguard Squadron, a mixed fighter squadron of the New Republic. Lindon used to be a TIE-Fighter pilot and a captain of the Imperial Navy. He deserted after the destruction of Alderaan, when he was ordered to destroy a convoy of Alderaanian refugees. Instead of killing the refugees, he protected them from his former Squadron, Helix Squadron, until reinforcements from the Rebel Alliance could save the convoy. He joined the rebellion after the battle.

I was able to get better screencaps of the right boot with the flares and the cargo pocket.

This is fab work Smile

It's just sad that we cant make a generic version unless we find some refs to prove that others wear the costume.

I do not know if there any other human rebel officers in the game that wear this costume. I have not been able to get past this point in the game because it does not save my progress when I leave the game and turn off the XBoxOne. Every time I come back, I have to start playing the game from the prolog. It is so frustrating.

If you leave off the medallion (or whatever it is) and the flares on his boot, the outfit looks pretty generic.
We've seen similar outfits on other Alliance officers.
I could imagine building a generic uniform like that for myself.

For untrained eyes, Commander Lindon Javes looks similar to the officers in A New Hope or Rogue One but for people that research officers he is actually very unique.

The first obvious difference is his dog tag. Then comes the black color of his yoke and that it does not go all the way from the shoulder to the edge of the closure. It ends about 2 inches sooner than other jackets and leaves a tan/khaki colored area open. The last unique thing is that he has two code cylinders, similar to the ones imperial officers wear, in his top left pocket. The seams of the pocket flap must have spaces for them to fit trough. That is the first time we see that on that type of jacket.

He wears dark brown or black jackboots with a band of flares on top of the right boot. That is something that only one RFT in A New Hope has and the X-Wing pilots. Officers in A New Hope wear brown riding boots. Rogue One officers wear brown riding boots or the same boots with anklet cuffs that the Scarif Marine wears.

His cargo pants are also unique because the cargo pocket flaps are chevron-shaped like the flaps of TIE-Fighter flight suits in Return of the Jedi. A New Hope Officers wear tan-colored trousers with a black stripe. They also have a slight flare like jodhpurs. Many officers in Rogue One wear cargo pants in the colors tan, khaki, light brown (coyote brown), and dark brown but their cargo pocket flaps are rectangular.

The only thing that Lindon has that is straight from the movies is the shirt, and the brown belt with an octagonal belt buckle. Everything else is either modified to a certain degree or completely different.

I noticed that, but think these are minor differences so that a generic look can be maintained in order to recognize it as a Rebel officer without going for a specific, named character.

Not till we know its worn on none face characters. Otherwise for all we know, this is the only costume that has this particular combination of parts.

You need a reference to prove every costume combination...even if its blurry people in the background, at least then its been referenced.(then you can use the clearer images to do the breakdown) It why it takes so long with a lot of the new generics we have to scan all the screen caps.

Well, I took a break from writing my seminar paper and finished the story of Star Wars Squadrons. Lindon Javes is the only character with that exact outfit. So he has to be considered a hero/face character for the time being. A CS for a generic version cannot be written up until we have references of other characters wearing this outfit. I hope that it might show up in the comics or another game sooner or later.

I would say that Javes has a navy blue colored yoke on his jacket. It follows the general Star Wars officer color scheme of:

Blue: pilots/navy
Red: infantry/security
Gold: command/admin

The color scheme is seen in the Rebel officer rank badges (and golden jacket yokes), Imperial Officer rank badges, and even Separatist battle droid paint schemes.

It's a pretty interesting character design on how they show that Javes is both command, but also a pilot. If a generic version comes up I'd label it as "Starfighter Command Officer."

The color of the yoke chould be navy (blue) but it could also be dark gray or black. It is very difficult to say.

I am not so sure about the relation of yoke color and color of the rank badge/branch of service. That the color of the rank shows the branch of the service is a new thing for the rebels that was added in Rogue One. The red ranks badge are High Command, the green ones are Army, and the blue ones are navy. The yokes do not make a difference because you can see officers with the honey-colored yoke wearing red or blue rank badges.

I do not think they paid attention to their own rank system. Just compare Captain Kado Oquoné, the commander of the hammerhead corvette Lightmaker that rams the star destroyer, with Captain Antilles, the commander of the corellian corvette Tantive IV, in Rogue One.

Captain Kado Oquoné wears are rank with two pips. The color is difficult to distinguish. It could be either green which would make him an army captain. In that case, why would he be a commander of a fleet ship? Or the two pips are blue which would make him either a not mentioned rank in the navy or the rebel navy uses the same rank names as the other branches.

Captain Antilles wears a rank badge with five blue pips. The blue color makes him a member of the navy. If you go by the ranks of the visual guide he should be a general and not a captain.

It gets even worse if you compare it with the real world US military the rank O-6 is called Colonel in the US Air Force/Army/Marine Corps but called captain in the US Navy. The rank O-7 is called Brigadier General in the US Air Force/Army/Marine Corps but called Rear Admiral (lower half) in the Navy.

I think the navy blue is fair solid because its matches the flight suits which are blue. If we do a comparison with the colours that are around him, Ie his hair is grey-black, his belt buckle weathering, the background black and grey shades- we can see that it matches the blue more then anything else.

I totally fine with navy (blue) for the yoke. It is only important that we all agree on the same color. Distinguishing the correct colors is always difficult but Star Wars Squadrons is making it more difficult for me because of the blurry art style. I have been collecting screencaps of NPC pilots too and the blurriness is driving me crazy.
