Thank you both Smile

It was a lucky find a while back Smile Luckily I managed to snag enough for myself and a few others who I will not name as they haven't posted anywhere that they have it Smile Needless to say I hope they do start posting Smile

It's a devore velvet with the back printed with a pattern like the pile.

I just managed to hem the satin layer tonight which has made a big difference to it as well. Now the lining doesn't show unless the skirt is really flipped up. Due to the drape and curve of the skirt layers it is hard to keep the hems of both even. I did also hand sew down the sides and godet seams to keep all layers together. That also has helped a lot.

Next step is to get the necklace sorted.

Lucky find indeed! I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. This costume is on my "radar". I'm collecting parts, but nowhere near ready to start. I still haven't found that perfect fabric for the skirt outer layer.

Great dress!!

Not to sidetrack this thread, but in the background where you can see a glass cabinet near the front door, on the third shelf down I believe that is a classic BSG Cylon helmet!

Cool, since I have one on my cabinet shelf as well!!!

Actually that is a Pepkura one made from gold metalic cardstock and it is way cool. Ross aka Ghost made that and 3 others in smaller sizes. One of our plush Stitch is wearing the smallest one.

Thanks. All of the renditions of this costume throughout this thread are fabulous. We all learn a little more from each version prior. Great work ladies.

I agree! Everyone has done such a lovely job making this dress that now I really want the costume. It's one of my favorite movie scenes.

I am in the process of reworking my neckpiece for this dress. But I am stuck on how to do those twisted strands. I have made the long strands of bugle beads but I can't seem to quite figure out how to twist them and make them stay that way.
Can anyone give some advice on how to manage this?

I need to do this myself Smile Unfortunately there is no easy way as they are four strand twists not two.

I will be tying them to a door handle then taking them strand by strand and twist in one direction then tie the end and let them twist back.

I was browsing for a motorcycle jacket and found this on the forever21.com website:

http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=faith_outerwear&product_id=2064786461&Page=1

It looks a LOT like the feather wrap for this costume, and thought I would share.

That's a good find and a good base, but the shawl needs to wrap around the shoulders and not the neck area. You'd probably need to get two of those to sew together to get the effect. I'm going to check my local F21 and see if they have that tomorrow during lunch.
