If the schedule doesn't work out for a "Sew Sew Sisters" gathering, you can always try finding us in the R2-D2 Builders' Club room. Smile

"Just like in the movies!" ^^

Wonderful dress. I'm amazed - although no expert in this field, but I enjoy the look of the dress. It looks great. Smile

Thank you...hard to believe that the beautiful Padme in this is only 14.

Really? I judged her younger but not 14 - maybe 18/19. ... Whow, what a fine dress does to a young lady. xD

Progress is agonisingly slow on this I know but I strung my beads for the twisted strands last week. I don't want to recall how long it took but it was longer as my threads kept breaking near the needle. A hint for those who find this to be an issue: don't cut the thread from the spool. I used a waxed beading thread so it was easy to keep the spool from unrolling.

I almost found some nice leather to make the corset from but there was not enough to make the corset and mitts. Sigh.

Great dress!!

Not to sidetrack this thread, but in the background where you can see a glass cabinet near the front door, on the third shelf down I believe that is a classic BSG Cylon helmet!

Cool, since I have one on my cabinet shelf as well!!!

Nice job, Denise! I like how you chose geometric lace instead of flower lace. Lace for this dress is HARD to find something that looks right, and I'm glad you made the effort to choose something that at least wasn't flowers.

I'm surprised I didn't notice the cylon helmet. Of course, if it had been a classic BSG Viper pilot helmet, I probably would have noticed! Wink

That's a bummer there wasn't enough leather for everything. Progress, though slow, is still progress though! Smile Congrats.

Thank you Smile I found a leather skirt I had in storage yesterday and that and what I found may be just enough Smile The skirt though is black paint on white leather and the rest is black on black. Or I could take my huge green hide and dye and paint that. Hmmm....

And today.. feathers! I finally splashed out and bought some amazing feather trim to make the cape Smile There is just enough with careful piecing and a bit of mixing with a lower quality trim if I can get my hands on them Smile

I have also been debating how to do the twists. If you look closely the right and left hand twists are in opposite directions (Z and S twists) which requires a little more care and work.

So I am going to have to make a twister (you can buy them for huge huge costs) that will do Z and S twists.

Edited to add these piccies:

The "corset" is just the skirt pinned around to check the colour and texture, the necklace is not finished I just want to see how all the textures work under the different lighting conditions. I love these feathers. They are not exactly the same but I prefer these pointier shape than the blunted.
