Hello everyone,
I am doing research about this costume and I found that the most difficult part will be the black web-like skirt fabric. I found several fabrics in Argentina, but nothing even remote like the original one.

But, I found at padawansguide.com this:
http://www.padawansguide.com/fancostumes2/Alex_t.jpg

She is wearing a real good one, dont you think? I am looking for this girl cause I want to ask her where did she buy it. Does anybody know she? I will really appreciate any information.

I don't think you can link directly to the image, try this one:

I believe you were talking about Alex? I've never made this gown, but the fabric on Alex's almost seems too white??

Anyone who made this gown have a suggestion?

I asked one of our gals who's made it, and she said it was just a random find in the Los Angeles garment district. Confused

These are so far the fabrics I bought for my costume: Black Napa ( which is the leather for the corset and the gauntlets), Pearl Crepe Satin and the fabric to cover the skirt. What do you think?

I uploaded the photos here:

I think it looks good. I think your fabric is the closest I've seen to the actual costume. Great find.

Thanks! Right now I am working over the neck piece. I already bought all the materials. It was hard to identify the rocks cause I only have one close photo . I will take some photos, upload them and post them here asap. You will see what I am talking about.

That's a great find you got there for the Fabric to cover the skirt. Wink

Seriously, if really desperate, can try getting regular Black Lace with densed patterns on it for the overskirt.

I was thiknking about making that same dress... Its one of my faves along with the blue cloth one she wears... I have never sewed before so this should be interesting... Plus I love corsets so it be awsome to try and make one myself.... lol...

If someone could help me find a pattern or something it would be great... It seems like a good project to try and all i have are pictures... lol...

Thanks...

If you haven't ever sewn before, sewing a corset may be a bit of a challenge for you.

You can always try Simplicity costume patterns, they offer quite a few different corsets. I have a couple patterns from Simplicity that are meant to be Civil War corsets that may be able to be altered to work for the Padme outfit. I haven't looked at them that closely, so I can't say for certain.

I used Vogue #2810 for the corset and skirt with a little modification. Since the actual costume does not lace in the back, I sealed the back shut. To get the proper shape you would need to wear a real corset underneath and make a black pleather one to go over it.

I used that same pattern to make my Purple Diamonds corset, and a ren fair corset. It's very easy to use, you just have to follow all the instructions and take your time. My last corset, I modified the pattern for steel boning rather than the poly boning it called for (holds the shape better IMO).

If you are worried about trying it, do a mock up with cheap cotton fabric and it will let you learn from any mistakes and change anything you want Smile

if you don't feel like you can make this, you can actually find that particular corset online, if you do a quick search for corsets you can find it. but by all means if you want to try making this, I say go for it, it'll mean much more to you if you put the time and effort in....it's also much more satisfying Very Happy Thumbs up
