Hi Rebel Lady,
I am so grateful for your help! Thanks for the back shots of the vest with the princess seams and the pocket over the side seam. :-) I will get my tailor to make another copy and when it's complete I will post pics.

Thanks so much.

Regards,

Archivist 32 - Soon to be Dr. Kalonia :-)

Hi All,
Here are the photos of the vest version 3.

The only thing I can see that needs change is the placement and size of the pockets. The pockets are too big and placed too high and the top of the pocket will be obsecured by the belt. I propose to take at least an inch of the height of the pocket and move down to sit half an inch above the vest hemline. Does this sound right?

Are there any other changes would you make?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Cheers,

Archivist32.

I think the pocket plan is sound. Smile

I just thought of something though, the belt will likely shorten the length of the vest- keep that in mind. The length looks correct from the back and sides as it is now without the belt, but adding it may change that. The front actually looks a bit shorter than the reference, but it's really hard to tell because of the angle and the muslins blending together. Honestly, I'd show your tailor the full reference album, and make sure you're taking your belt into account.

HI Rebel Lady,
Here are the photos of the latest draft. My tailor has read the entire build thread and looked at the photo album you supplied.

Please look at these photos and let me know if it okay to proceed with the final copy in brown linen. NB the belt pictured is not the one used for for final approval photos.

I don't think there are any more changes to be made. The seams, pocket and length look right even with the 'sample' belt.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Archivist32

Hi Rebel Lady,
I would like to go ahead and have the vest made up. Is there anymore changes you would suggest or does this design match the character specifications?

Kind Regards,

Archivist32.

I think it looks great! Smile My only comment is to make sure the cuffs on the blouse have an invisible closure rather than a button and button hole. A snap would likely work well.

Looks good Sharon.

As long as you are happy with the length at the back with the belt on I'd say go for it. It looks a tiny bit shorter on you than the front, but I'd have to see it in person to be able to check how it's sitting on you standing side on.

But that is the ONLY teeny tiny thing I can think of.

Hi Rebel Lady and Sairs,

Please find below the photo role for the real vest. I am concerned about the fit of the vest. There seams to be to much widith and it's bunching up under the belt. Would you recommend adding some more contouring around the waist to remove the folds?
Would these folds impact on a positive approval if the vest was submitted as is?

Please note that I am aware the vest front needs to cross left over right and will be corrected.

Honestly, you might just need to cross the front so there is a bit more overlap when you close it? I would suggest experimenting with that. If you are still unhappy with the amount of fabric then maybe taking it in a little at the side seams would help, but in my opinion, it's not a huge deal. It's looking very nice, Sharon.

Actually, good point by Kristina. Try overlapping it a touch more and see if it fits flatter.

Then perhaps a tiny bit off the side seams.

I know you'll be happier if YOU like how it looks.
