Hello everyone!
At a recent troop I realized we have only one Leia approved in RL for the whole province and I thought it would be great for kids to have a Leia more often at the events. What I like in costume is when a kid recognize the character and is excited to see a role model/favorite character! So I decided to do senatorial Leia, after all, it's such an iconic costume!
I'm looking for feedback on my progress and anything you think should be modified for authenticity and RL approval.
I started slowly back in November. I have the following right now:
- Boots from amazon
- Kanekalon hair in dark brown, they match my hair color quite good. I'm planning to do the instant-buns from this very helpful post: www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38334 (thank you!)
- 1" concho from tandy
- Fabric that is starting to look like a dress Since I'm not in the US I couldn't get the Jet set fabric from Joann so I went with some white polyester fabric from a local store
I'm still waiting on my white leather from the local cobbler
I did a mockup of the belt pattern, please let me know if that looks good or not
Here is the progress on the dress. I was concerned I made it too short since I'm 5'8" but I think it looks good (yes those are my slippers!).
Should I "puff" the dress more over the belt, or less? What do you think?
(My 6 yo took the picture so it's not the best, sorry!)
Thank you very much for any help and feedback!

At first glance, it looks like you're doing great. Your blousing/fluff over the belt is a really nice amount and then length of the dress looks good on you. Your fabric has a really nice drape to it.
I'm looking forward to seeing more! _________________

My mom took the kids overnight so I have made some progress on the dress!
I need to hand stitch the collar's interior and install the hooks and eyes. I have some silver one is that OK? My local sewing store doesn't carry white ones :\
Here are some pictures

I think most folks use silver hooks and eyes. The key is to make sure that they hold the collar flush together and don't hang over the opening. Tacking down the front of the hook helps. _________________

Hello,
So I finished my dress now and I'm quite happy with the result! I used 2 hook and eyes but I think it would be more secure with 3. Is that a problem? I guess it should be OK as long as we don't really see them?
I've starting working on my belt. I just need to figure out the distance between each metal plate and drill the hole. I also need to clean the lines of the belt because some black line are still showing from when I traced the pattern
I'm having a hard time with the buns! Like I said in a previous post I want to make insta-buns so I don't have to do them each time. Long story short my hair color changed with my pregnancies (who knew that could happen!) and my hair color is much darker than before. So when I bought the kanekalon hair online I bought it for the hair color I had for 25+ years and not the new hair color I have since 2-4 years So I went to a local store to find the right color but we have very limited quantities here. So I bought what they had and I ordered more online but it'll take time before I have the new hair.
I did my best with what I have. I'm thinking I'll try to get approved with those and then re-do them once I get the new hair.
What do you think about the general shape of this bun? Don't mind the fly-away hairs, I still need to fix that. We don't really see the size here so it's about 7 inches in diameter.
Any input will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!! _________________ • Jyn Erso • Battle Rey (TLJ) • Sabine Wren • Senatorial Leia • |

Generally it looks good, but the buns are really all about proportion to you and your head, so to really say we'd have to see it on you. _________________

Hi! I am building my wife a Senatorial Leia, and we are sourcing out boots. I found a pair on Amazon that might pass, but I'm not sure. What vendor did you use for yours? _________________ Echo Base |
