I decided to make a female desert trooper costume from EA Battlefront 1. I will not try to get it aproved because it is just for fun. I also do not think that the current CS represents the female DRT correctly.

I am going to reuse many of items from my specialist, such as the hooded jacket, the khaki T-shirt, all the greeblies, belt pouches and the white gaiters. Besides the helmet I will only need diffent pair of gloves and perhaps khaki belt instead of the bown one that I have. I already have a CZ M60 softpack and a pair of khaki BDU pants. I have three painted toy blasters that I can use with this costume, a Hasbro DH-17, a Rubies DL-44 and a Hasbro EE-3.

I found a file for the DRT helmet on thingiverse.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2990222

A acquaintance is printing the helmet. The helmet in file needs to be downsized about 20 percent to look correct. We found that out after he printed out the ring for the first time. Here are some photo of the downsized helmet. I will take photos of me wearing it as soon as I have it.

I think it is time to post some of my references. The female desert trooper wears a helmet and carries a hardpack/jump pack or she has no helmet and carries softpack/jump pack when you play multiplayer modes such as cargo or dropzone.

Cargo

Dropzone

Multi-player character selection

In the single player mision battle Tatooine the female DRT wears a helmet and carries either a soft pack or a jump pack.

In the single player mision survival rebel depot the female DRT wears a helmet and carries a soft pack. Edit: I can play this mission with a jet pack now that I unlocked the multiplayer hand.

Edit May, 15th 2019: Co-op mode of survival rebel depot

End of Edit May, 15th 2019

In the single player mision survival Tatooine the female DRT has a helmet and carries a soft pack in the cutscenes but only carries a jet pack during the game. Edit: I should be able to play this mission with a softpack as soon as I have unlocked the multiplayer hand.

When I play a female DRT in one of the multiplayer missions I can choose either a female that wears a helmet and carries a hardpack or a female without a helmet and a soft pack. When I use the jump pack card any pack gets replaced with the jump pack.

When I play the mission battle Tatooine my female character wears a helmet and carries either a soft pack or a jump pack. The females that are controlled by the KI of the game do not have a helmet and carry a hardpack. So any combination of helmet/no helmet and soft pack/hardpack/jump pack is possible in the game.

There are also different hairstyles available. The cybernetic female is bald One other female has the label bald but it looks like very short hair to me. All the other females can have a short bob, a long bob, a pony tail or a Princess Leia type braid.

I bought a pair of tan work gloves this morning. Now I have three different sets of work gloves. One tan pair (Desert Trooper), one brown pair (Vanguard) and one dark brown pair (Tatooine Specialist).

I also order one meter of white canvas for the gaiters and three meters of tan colored medium weight cotton twill for the pants. I decided to sew the paints myself because my khaki colored Tru-Spec BDU pants are too dark. Their color is closer to my Rothco coyote BDU pants, which I use for my Vanguard than to the tan Mil-Tech BDU jacket, which I use for my Rogue One Senior Officer. I am going to use the same basic pants pattern that I used for my RFT pants and just add the correct pockets. I think that the front hip pockets are probably the same size as the ones on my black imperial flight suit from Cosplaysky. The flaps of the back pockets are similar to the ones on BDU pants. The side pockets at knee height are very similar to the cargo pockets on my self-made RFT pants. Figuring out the correct size should not be very difficult.

This project is coming along nicely. The fabric arrived on Tuesday and I am picking up the 3D-printed helmet and the other greeblies this evening. I will post some photos this weekend.

Here is a link to my reference collection of the female and male versions of the EA Battlefront 1 Desert Trooper. I will continue adding more references to the folder.

I received my helmet and soft pack greeblies yesterday. I am pretty happy about the fit of the helmet. Sorry about the bad quality of the photos, our old digital camera does not work and non of our cell phones can take good photos.

Here are some photos of my CZ M60 soft pack. It was brand new when I bought it on eBay. I washed it twice to get rid of the bad smell and to make it look used. I also have the carrying straps. I already cut off the extra straps but I still have to do some work on it.

Here is the soft pack with its carrying system. I made some small changes by cutting off the extra straps in the front by switching the leather strap in the center. I also added some black zip-ties because the hooks kept slipping out of the rings.

Here is my fabric for both of my Battlefront costumes as well as the shirts that I plan to use. The white fabric for the gaiters is heavy canvas. The tan medium weight cotton twill fabric at the bottom is almost an exact match to the tan T-shirt. I will be using both for my EA Battlefront 1 female Desert Trooper. The medium brown fabric at the top is for the cap and pants of my EA Battlefront 2 Tatooine Rebel Specialist. It is a medium weight canvas. The shirt that I will be using with that costume is a coyote brown tank-top.

Here is a photo of my finished belt of my Tatooine rebel Specialist. I am also going to use it for this costume.

I painted the cylindric pouch on Wednesday because I did not like the color difference between it and the square pouches. It looks a lot better now. I put the leather I made it from underneath to show the difference.

I followed Retrofire's lead and altered the closures of the soft pack flaps. http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=100489
I went a step further than him, I added toggles and eyelets.

I took the Czechoslovakian carrying system for my M60 backpack apart because I did not like that I had to use zip-ties to keep it from unhooking. I took off the three rings on the top of the pack and sewed the shoulder straps directly to it. The lower parts of the straps are sewed to the rings on the bottom. I also repaired two holes that I found and reinforced the area by adding a small patch of fabric per hole.

I worked on my hooded jacket yesterday. I took out the zipper and removed the stretchy stuff on the bottom hem. I also moved the pockets further up so that they do not get covered by the pants. Last I shorted the sleeves and added longer cuffs. Unfortunately, the cuffs need to be redone because they are too short. They keep slipping out of the gloves. I had to order extra fabric for the cuffs because I ran out of leftover fabric.

My husband primed the helmet and then added a layer of paint. We used silver as the first layer because the primer was transparent and we needed something to make the problem areas more visible.

My husband did more spray painting yesterday. He used MTN Ebony Brown for the soft pack greeblies and MTN Coffee Brown fort the wrist-com and rank badge. The wrist-com and rank badge are too light they need to be darker. I have to order a darker brown form MTN for them but I am not sure which one I should get. The color chart is not much help because the colors do not look the same in reality. Ebony Brown looks almost black and Coffee Brown is less dark than the chart in reality.

The magnets for the softpack greeblies arrived 30 minutes ago. The backpack is almost finished. I just have to find a grey hose in our local building supplies store.
