I've always wondered...What does this category apply to? I'm pretty sure all the dancers we see are named.
Is this a generic build-your-own costume, like generic jedi or generic wookie??

Can someone confirm whether "generic" twi'lek dancers are approve-able?
In this post
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=76291

it says only Oola, Lyn Me, & Ann and Tann Gella are approvable.

I'm confused. I'd like to do a Twi'lek dancer for my Garrisons Jabba display but something less revealing than Oola or Lyn Me.

I also saw this costume as approved but I think it's a custom generic.

I'm sorry, generic dancers are not approvable. The one that you referenced is from 2008 and would not be approved today because our standards are always improving.

Hum sorry, but you should more say "changing" than improving. Improving on this kind of case is more subjective. I personally don't think it is one to block generic dancers. After all you have generic jedi. Why not dancers ?
What is the difference for one to be considered as ok but not the other ?

I think "evolving" would be the best description. Smile

Yes, we have generic alien Jedi (...Pilots, etc.), and the difference is those costumes have an established foundation. There are common elements that make up the "Jedi look" (e.g. Outer tunic of a specific length and style, tabards, boots, etc.). An alien version of those costumes must first meet the CRLs for the core costume. Then the alien parts are judged separately.

Twi’Lek Slave Dancers as seen in the films, holovids, games, etc. do not have a common look in regard to clothing parts and accessories. There is no "standard look" to write a CRL against. The majority of Twi’Lek Slave Dancers that I have seen in the cosplay community revolve around using real-world (off the rack, or custom made) belly dancing and fetish garb. While great for one's personal interpretation of the theme, this is not something we can approve or base a CRL on. Neutral

I wasn't specifically on alien jedi but all Jedi.
You can also find a commun pattern for slave dancers if you want too. Hips are visibles, as well as the belly usually and fabric should be light and soft for example. You can also add the facts they are all chained.

With or without interpretation of the costume, I think that as soon as they don't have other elements like googles for pilots, weapons or so on... you can recognize easily it's a dancer. Rolling Eyes

But we all come back to the debates on what and why people are in RL. Which change from continent to continent and even country to country.

If you want to make a Twilek Dancer , Smuggler, whatever than do it!

Even if it is not RL approveable you can wear it to local Conventions or Photoshoots. If you like to be a dancer, so be a dancer!

When my Lekkus arrive, i am going to make a Bollywood Dancer. Just for fun and for me, and we will rock the next convention ! <333
