Hi everybody,

Just a quick question regarding the Hoth goggles and costume standards. According to the standards, Han's goggles should be yellow/amber tinted. While I know this to be true of Luke and many of the other Rebel troopers, every image I find of Han seems to look like they are clear. I don't know how to post photos here, but google "Han Solo Hoth Costume" and click on images. There are several close-up head shots of Han, and the goggle lenses look clear in every one.

Is there any evidence that they are yellow, based on costumes from any of the Celebrations or Magic of Myth? I know not many have registered this costume formally, but I am willing to go where few others have (even though I live in the desert). I just don't want to have my costume denied because of lens color.

I would prefer to leave them clear, as that is how they appear in the film, but if someone can show otherwise, then yellow it is. Thanks for any thoughts or opinions.

May the Force be with you,

Brian

Post a picture of what you have... then we can discus it. If there are mistakes to the standards we will take them to the detachment, talk it over and get them changed.

Thanks for bringing it up!

Hi All,

OK, here is one of the images which, to me, shows Han's goggles having clear lenses. Took a little work to figure out how to post this, but what do you guys think? Yellow/amber, or clear?

Look forward to hearing from you all.

May the Force be with you,

Brian

Clear, or slighly grey tinted.

Clearly shows Han with un-tinted goggles while Luke wears a pair with yellow tint.

Sorry to revive an old thread - but does anyone know what brand the originals were?

I read that they had input from Scott, and were nicknamed '#76 - but not made by them. I want to find as good reference shots as i can.

I am about to start collecting parts for Hoth Han build and i want to be really anal about it Very Happy

they look like standard 'off the shelf' snow goggles; not a custom prop.

although Han's got the bottom of the frame modified on his pair.

the frame is mutilated on Han's pair, to account for the face-covering (scarf):
they cut the bottom corners from the goggles-frame.
(to allow for the rolled edge of the face-wrap to pass underneath the goggles? I guess?)

compare to this pair:

and Luke's pair (showing blue foam on the inside):

^^ Han's were cheap junk compared to the other examples Razz LOL

they have clear lenses instead of amber; and they have those "cut outs" at the bottom corner, where the frame has been 'mutilated'
(the other goggles in the movie, do not have this modification)

Yeah if you are picky like me then finding goggles the same shape and look is tough. Emgo model # 76 are the closest I could ever find to the Swans Goggles that were used. I have both. The Swans just never show up on Ebay often.

I remember searching for the swans under vintage ski goggles and seeing the style they used in Rogue one. They are know just as rare maybe. All bought up or people know and charge a lot more.
