If you're reading this because you live in VA or WV, and you're interested in joining the Rebel Legion, welcome, and we look forward to trooping with you!

Here are some tips and tricks for getting started, approximately in order:

  1. Register for the forums here:
    http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/profile.php?mode=register&sid=e1f1e206e56399e603d3528c3dba4cad
(You'll need a login to submit your first costume anyway, and we recommend getting involved on the forums as early in the process as possible.)

  2. Meet your base!
Introduce yourself here in the Freedom Base subforum, and browse the various resources available. The pinned post with Facebook groups and a Google Drive. The post about the current base staff. Also browse the events section for upcoming events in your area. Prospective members are welcome to attend costuming workshops and troop as a handler at events. When you find one you like, click the buttons at the top of the post to RSVP.

  3. Make a build thread for your first costume.
Once you know what costume you want to make first, go to the costume/prop section of the main forum, find the right "detachment" for your character, and start a build thread. (Bonus: Link to it in your forum signature!)

  4. Send in photos!
When you submit your costume photos for approval, (click the "my costumes" link at the top) they will be judged at the detachment level (by the same people who manage the forum area where your build thread is.) Local leadership is courtesy copied on all correspondence, and can help out if there are any problems or delays. (2 weeks is the average wait time)

A few other helpful items:

Rebel Legion new member FAQ subforum:
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=392

Leadership Roles Explained:
Base Commanding Officer - Runs the base
Base Executive Officer - Assists CO with events and admin items
Base Membership Officer - Assists CO with costuming and membership items
Regional Event Captain - Arranges events and handles other items for their area

For most questions, message either your Regional Event Captain or the Base Membership Officer. (There should be an announcement in this subforum with the latest staff) We'll point you in the right direction!
