Here is the first testpull after bondo and prime.
I am happy with it but will rework the molds a little bit and looking for a stronger Vacpump.

there's a serious amount of love gone into that build, top work. the chin especially is bang on the money. when you say pulls, are you just doing vac formed helmets?

I see you made big silicone molds as well, will you be doing this in resin or did you only use it for the vacuum form bucks

That's what I was thinking. it's a lovely mold, be perfect for resin, and less work when there's no lining up to be done with 2 halves of a bucket.

That really is looking good!

But I agree, resin might be a good option for this. Slush cast it. Pour in some rotocasting resin, rotate it around, and bada big bada boom, you've got yourself a helmet. Laughing

I would tend to stay away from vac formed pieces in future. I don't like having to use glue and tabs to hold it together, it added a lot of weight to mine, and the bondo it took to cover the seam was ridiculous. If i dropped mine, it could split in half, and that's the paint job ruined. I would be deifinitely interested in a purple visor though. not happy with mine in the slightest: wrong shape, wrong colour.

I am not sure at this time to made fiberglas or resin helmets. The real helmets are vacformed so I want to make mine as original as possible.
With corect glue and Bondo its no problem. The original visor is Amber and not purple or pink. This is an ilusion and comes from the lighting in the movie.
I had good shots of original ones who you can see that they are amber.
Here a few shots of my painted helmet.

lovely job. I get the reason you wanna stay close to the source material. plus the advantage of the vac formed helmet being adaptable to fit all size heads. let me know if you need any help with the greeblies, I had to make most of mine from scratch.
