Thanks for the positive comments, thumbs up and dancing smilies.
Does this fabric look ok for the gaiters?
It's reasonably thick, thermal backed curtain fabric. |

I don't see any problem with it. It should be fine. As long as it doesn't have an extremely heavy texture that can be noticed from a distance most materials are usually okay. Heck, mine are made of vinyl. _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

I've finished one of my gaiters.
I cut some fabric into two equal pieces and hemmed the inner edges that will be in the center front. I used hot glue to add the extra piece behind the gap…
I then stitched the top and bottom and made the strap piece…
The end result after sewing up the back and attaching the buckle…

I've added the straps and buckles to the flak vest and made the belt…
A green bin that's 9 inches square at the base was used to form the basic chest box shape with expanding foam…
I then started to carve the foam into shape and this is where I'm up to...
Looks a bit yucky at the moment but I'm hoping it'll turn out ok in the end. |

Thanks… the chest box kind of looks like a lump of cheese at the moment but I've got some EVA foam lying around doing nothing, so I might use that for a chest box too and see which works best. |

A small amount of progress on the flightsuit.
Cut pieces of fabric for the zipper cover and collar flap…
Sewed them on…
Made pocket for left arm…
I've also been working on a couple of 3d models. One for the AN-H-15 ear cup and the other for the chestbox.
I had the ear cup printed at the local library and it looks ok…
I added the 'flange' thinking it would help in mounting it to the fabric, but it's of no use and makes the earcup too big for the opening, so I'll cut it off and see if it fits better.
I'm looking forward to getting the chestbox 3d printed at the library soon. |

Looks like it's coming along!
Man, I wish my local library had a 3D printer. That would make my life easier... >>;; _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

Thanks.
Yeah, it's pretty good having a 3d printer at the library. Might not be able to print the chestbox in one go though as the printer's quite small. It'll be close so I'll confirm the printer size with the library staff and see. I'll either have to size down the chestbox a tad or print it as four individual pieces and glue together.
Would the chestbox be approvable if it was slightly under the 9x9 inch size? |

Might be easier, anyway, in case something gets messed up during the printing, then you don't have to print the entire chestbox all over again.
A chestbox that's smaller than 9x9 would probably still be accepted, yeah. As long as it wasn't a lot smaller, it should still look right on you. But an inch or so smaller probably wouldn't be an issue. _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

Thanks for the kind words.
However, rather annoyingly, I loose interest in things at the drop of a hat and I've lost interest in this for now and don't know when or if I'll ever get back onto it.

Hi All,
I decided to get back onto the B-Wing Pilot costume and have been doing a bit on it lately.
I wasn't happy with my original chestbox so did another one...
Tried it on today to see how it looks...
Does it look okay? Approvable?
Glen. |

That's looking really good. Nice job! You should be proud of it.
The ejection harness looks a little tight around your legs but I think that it would still pass. You should trim the excess side strap on the right side, you can see it bunched up under the vest on the right side picture. And you could take the back panel of the flak vest in a little, making it a bit shorter, yours is a little long. But that's all that I see.
