My question is, do the pouches have to match the color of the belt? The reason I am asking is because I was given some leather (as payment for my help getting the chairs loaded and unloaded for return to the owners) that was removed from a couple of old chairs when they were reupholstered by a friend's grandfather. The leather is a dark brown color the smoother side and tan on the rough/suede side. I hand stitch my pouches with out the special tools.

From what I read they have to match meaning you can't have brown pouches on a black belt (or the opposite), but different shades of brown are allowed.

Thanks for the answers to my color question. Now a new question is are there specific size requirements for the pouches? I just finished stitching one that is about 3" tall x 2.75" wide x 1" deep. Need to get some belt clips and anchoring hardware to complete it. I'll add a picture later on once I get it transferred from my phone.

Yes correct assessment on pouch and boots correlation.

As to pouch sizes they should be approximately what has been seen on official characters for your build/body size.

So long as they are near reference not huge or tiny, you should be fine.

Iconicdesign is technically correct. However, if you look through the membership section and study the photos you will see that the pouches range greatly in size, shape, style and the number of pouches carried on the belt.

The color factor runs true. Brown on brown with variances on the brown shades and black only on black.

Creating your own belt can be a right of passage for making your costume.
I discovered that my ideas for the color scheme of the material for my outfit changed considerably once I finished my belt. Plus my original thought on the boots I wanted went a completely different direction.

For those who don't know, IonicDesign (no iconicdesign) is a Jedi costume judge.

It is recommended that you never look at old roster photos as the basis for anything costume-wise as standards have and do change over time.

Pouches are given a lot of latitude, the OP asked for advice on how to approach it, and that is what I gave, best practice, not the only option.

My apologies for the miss spelling.
The latitude you referred to is what I was pointing out to TheOutcast.

As you point out, the photos of officially approved members may not be the absolute best forum to rely on regarding what may or may not be acceptable to the judges. However, official membership photos are a useful tool when determining the guidelines a costumer wishes to use to create their outfit.

Following the advice of the costume judges though is the best tool you have to create a quality costume.

Sounds good. Again refer to LFL reference rather than past approvals and you'll be in good shape, especially something that has changed as much as Jedi standards over the years.

Sean, do you have some photos you could share of the pouch/es?

When I get home in the morning I will have transfer the pictures I have on my phone to my computer and post them up. I'll even post a WIP of a 5" wide pouch.

Here are two pictures of the first pouch that I have done in the last few days. and the WIP one. Trying to figure out where to place the magnets on the inside of the front panel on the WIP pouch. Waiting till i get paid again to try and order some belt clips and screws to mount them to the back of the pouches. Sorry if the images are on the big side.
