Hi all,

Well after about 2 and a half months of emails and phone calls with DW and Disney we finally have come up with a date for DW2018. It will be held on the 23rd and 24th of June 2018. To get this date was in itself a massive effort, with Disney changing their mind and the rules several times. We got there in the end.

With the opening of the new Star Wars worlds at the Disney parks, I thought it prudent to ask if DW2018 was going to be the last. It looks like I was right in that bad feeling I was getting. DW2018 will be the last time we will hold this event at Dreamworld. There is no coming back from this unless Disney go bankrupt. I can't see that happening.

The main reason cited was the opening of the theme parks and to quote Disney "other reasons". Not that they say the other reasons, but we can all probably guess. That we managed to get 9 years at a theme park that is not Disney related is a miracle in itself. We had a fantastic run and some amazing memories. We have had troopers, rebels, mandos and GA's from all over the country and from around the world come to join us in the fun.

This may be the last DW folks, but let's make sure that we get out there and show those Yanks, Asian, Pacific, Middle East, African and EU troopers what a real event is like. One that we have worked so hard to build into the best event Australia has had, if not the world. Nowhere else in the world do you get to do what we do at DW and that is something we get to be very proud of. We ride the Motocoaster, feed a croc, fight in the streets with sabers, march down the main street of the park and just make a whole lot of people happy by being us.

Thank you all for a fantastic 8 years and I hope to see you all at the 9th and final year for Dreamworld.

Please note this is not like a John Farnham tour. This is it. The event has been buried, molten lead poured over he casket, the casket and lead dug up, that mass then thrown into the ocean and the ocean filled in with more molten lead and then an asteroid crashed on top of it all. It is folks Game Over after DW2018.

More info and the sign up sheet will be cross posted in the next few days. You can also head to www.501st.com.au to the RBG forums and sign up. PM our web gurus, Moxxxie and Altair if you have any issues with access.

Cheers

Bummer! I am really disappointed that an Australian Centric event will disappear from the Calender!

A disappointed librarian.

This will be the ninth and final year this event will be held at Dreamworld. Last year we had over 140 troopers, Rebels, Mandos and Galactic Academy kids attending this amazing event of fun and awesomeness. We were also lucky enough to have members from VIC, NSW, WA and Singapore attend. For those of you that haven't been to any DW event, those that have will attest to the fantastic time and inter-Garrison fun we are all have at this event.

It is the largest event in the Southern Hemisphere and we want people from all Garrisons around the world attending. From the main group photo on the Saturday morning to the Sith versus Jedi lightsaber duel, watching the feeding of a 5.2m saltwater croc to Biker Scouts riding the Motocoaster rollercoaster. This is an event you do not want to miss.

DW2018 looks to have even more things happening so come one and come all to one absolutely amazing weekend where you can meet troopers from different Garrisons and meet the ones in our own that you haven't met before.

Roll on DW2018!!!!!

Further threads will appear over the next few weeks. So just wait for them to appear.

So get those new costumes now. Cut off for approvals will be the 6th of June 2018.

THIS IS THE LAST ONE FOLKS. GAME OVER. DO NOT MISS THIS LAST HURRAH FOR THIS EVENT.

Attention all jedi,

As we draw closer to the Dreamworld weekend I just thought I would remind you all of the Jedi academy and the Sith vs Jedi lightsaber duel.

The Jedi Academy is a really fantastic chance to interact with the kids that come to see us for the weekend and show them what it is like to be at the Jedi academy and learn some lightsaber skills.

It is a whole heap of fun and it is amazing that we can actually herd 100+ kids into some sort of order to show them some skills. I hope that many of you will be there for the Jedi Academy and help make it awesome. The more jedi that turn up the more amazing it will look.

The Sith vs Jedi fight sequence is also the jewel in the Dreamworld weekend crown. The SvJ team train for about 4 to 5 months beforehand to make this look as professional and realistic as possible. The team gets hurt and injured, as well as give up their time on the weekends to make this happen.

This year we will be asking for the assistance from the Jedi that are helping with the JA. The Sith will be randomly skewering the Jedi as the show progresses. One by one the jedi will fall until there is only one left to face the Sith off. If you would like to be a part of this and have a Sith dispatch you, then we are asking that you stay inside the ring of guests and wait for the Sith to come to you and end you in a nice neat fashion. For the most part you will be stabbed from behind so all you need to do is act like you have been skewered and fall to the ground around the outside of the circle.

If you do not want to get Order 66’d then stand just inside the crowd away from the Sith. If you are in the circle they are going to get you.

This should be a lot of fun and pretty crazy to do, but that is what we do best. I hope you all want to take part in this little bit of crazy.

Best Regards
Apok

Passing on info from Tatooine base.

The group photo for Dreamworld will be immediately following the parade on Sunday, this allows for the likes of 3PO and Chewie to be involved , exact timing will be relative to the duration of the parade and time it takes to muster at the platform adjacent to the globe .
Cheers Cyclops ( Tatooine BCO )
