Ha, understandable. Wink But a white jersey fabric can work, too, without it being see-through.

What are you using for a pattern? I really want to make this as I'm expecting and it would be a nice addition to my cosplay collection lol. I know the actual pattern is ridiculously expensive!

You mean the McCall pattern, right?
I am not using that one - not because it's expensive, but because I don't like it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that one doesn't have the panels on the front and it's all wrong on the back - splits in two "wings" rather than just one big piece, whose hanging pieces are pinned up in a way to form the "waterfall" style. Well, can't really explain it, but you know what I mean.

I'm being helped in this one because, as a project, this one is much more challenging than Rey and my friend (who's doing most of the sewing) is trying to pattern it herself. There's tons of great reference and tutorials on Fit For A Queen and Padawan's Guide (which I still use as main source for all my Star Wars costuming).

Plus, the McCall pattern isn't meant to accomodate the baby bump (that's what the panels are for in the movie version, to frame the belly, which is first supposed to be revealed during that scene).

MAN IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME!!

I'm finally getting around this thing and it's finally coming together. I ended up putting this project aside in order to favor my Mustafar first, but now it's time to finish this baby up.
I ended up re-ordering some fabric, because the original 5.5 yards weren't enough. I ordered 5 more yrds and here we go.

GUYS IT DRAPES BEAUTIFULLY. I don't think I've ever seen a fabric that moves around this pretty. It's so light and delicate, I'm always afraid it might rip though. It's going to be hard to try not to ruin it while trooping.

The color also: it's not light blue, baby blue, powder blue, lilac, lavander, silver... it's just such a unique shade that changes sub-tones according to the light and how it's exposed to it. Not too shiny, not too dull. It's the perfect, satin finish. And yes, it is actual silk charmeuse.
I think I'm in love <3

I'll post updates as soon as I have made progress
