O.k. I know that this is seriously early to be planning this, however if I'm going to do it, I'll need tickets and flights etc.

I'm considering coming over from the UK to attend DragonCon, and would like to know where I would stand in terms of taking part in the parade or having it marked against my troop record.

Obviously I'd buy the tickets etc, but would I be able to count it as a troop at all please?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Chris. Yes, the DragonCon parade counts as an official troop. Signing up for table duty during the Con is also a troop for each day you sign up.

Thank you so much.

That's made my evening, UK time. I'm over the moon about that. Thanks again.

I had a question about the parade. I hadn't seen any sign ups on the forum in the event thread, and registration has come and gone. I had reserved a spot just in case to make sure I could march, but the organizer wants us whose groups reserve spots to give them up. Before I do, is there a limit to the number of spots we have?

We have put in a request for 300 [wrist bands] which will include members from:

- 501st Legion
- Rebel Legion
- Mando Mercs
- Dark Empire
- Saber Guild
- Twin Suns
- Galactic Academy

You will have no issue marching with the Rebel Legion.

We will post a link for sign-up closer to the event somewhere around early August. This will be just so we have a general idea of who's marching and what costumes we'll have.

Separate from the parade, you're definitely not too early to be planning for Dragoncon. It's a very busy weekend in Atlanta, so if you haven't already made a hotel reservation you should start looking. The host hotels are already full, but there are still a number of good options if you haven't already made arrangements. The Dragoncon Hotel Connection page on facebook will be your friend in this case.

Thanks for all of the information.

The hotel is already booked, unfortunately not one of the associated hotels, but it should not be too bad.

In terms of parade registration, I'm a little confused by the different answers, if I'm not able to participate, it's OK, just a shame. My travel companion will be trooping with 501st.

Thanks again.

We all troop together as an overall Star Wars group, and then march as our separate Legions. If you are a member of the Rebel Legion, you can troop with the Rebel Legion and will not have to register yourself. You will be able to pick up your wristband on Friday (the parade is Saturday morning) at the 501st fan table.

Thanks Steve,
I've signed up to the Georgia site, as has my travel companion.

Hopefully we'll work out the site in time to sign up.
Many thanks.

Another question about the DC parade -- I'm part of the Florida Legion, but I've never marched with the RL in the parade...

I'll keep an eye out for signups in August, where is the 501st table typically? Is that the one in the Marriott, usually by the small DC shop?

Correct. The 501st and RL tables are usually next to each other near the DragonCon store in the Marriott.

For the DC parade, you just need to pick up a badge at the 501st table on Friday and then show up at the staging area on Saturday morning. Smile DragonCon has a shuttle for parade participants that will take you to the staging area. As we get closer to DC event specifics will be posted in the DC thread.

Many thanks
