I started working on this back in June, but now that I've revealed it to my coworkers, I thought I should start a thread here.

I'll be posting pictures as I get more parts done (I have the feet and head now), and have recorded a lot of video to make into YouTube tutorials for how I'm doing things. I'll post links here for those too, so people can follow along.

I used the resources on TK409.com to get started, and some YouTube videos on how to get the gold look. More details to follow.

Here is the playlist I'm using for my C-3PO build. I have lots of videos recorded, just have to go through and get them posted.

I was able to find someone selling a whole set of C3PO parts (I only got a few out for the picture below). It's going to take a long time to get them wearable, but I've started collecting links on tutorials for each part. I will post links here as I complete various stages, so anyone following along has an easier time than I did tracking everything down.

I believe I finally have all the parts wearable. Still some fine tuning to do, but I should be able to put them all on now. Below are all the major parts mounted on a simple PVC stand, plus a version that could be used for display. The set of parts I got came with a nice pair of shorts with a section attached for the belly, and I didn't want to cut it up, so I bought another pair of shorts to wear.

It may be hard to believe, but I've been working pretty frantically on this since September. 5-10 hours every week, sometimes a lot more. I'm almost done, hoping to have it ready for the Dallas Fan Expo on March 31. Everything is chromed using Alclad, and I'm getting ready to turn it gold with a tinted clear coat.

Awesome build. I was wondering what light kit did you use for the eyes?

I originally used the one that came with the head, from starbuckcylon. Now I'll be using the brass version that came with the full suit I got, I believe it's a set that was made by Faraway Creations a few years ago. The brass version is significantly thinner (front to back), so it will be more comfortable to wear.
