Greetings and salutations!

Even before I joined the Rebel Legion, ANH Chewie has been a dream build that I thought I would never be able to afford. I recently picked up pieces of a Chewie build from a garrison mate who wanted to move on to other costumes and am hoping to have this dream up and running in the next couple of years.

Mask is Evil Chimp and needs some love. The bandolier was purchased by the former owner who also completed the feet on the painter platforms. He had a clump of hair pre-straightened and blended and I have since hooked that onto the pants. I had my family, bro-in-laws, and tiny human each latch a hook so I could always have them with me when I troop. The tiny human was ecstatic to help Auntie Em make Chewbacca and maybe I got misty-eyed.

So now I plan to follow Ducati's method of hair straightening in time for the eventual snow-ins that make working on my Phase 2 Rex impossible.

Let the fun begin.

YAY! I was just thinking that you should be posting your WIP soon, and here it is!

Your build is looking good, and there is always something with the Chewie costume that needs some love Dance Chewie

Very excited to watch your build process, and if you need anything, just let me know.

Welcome!

Seeing the pic with the wookiee head on I could not help but think I hope my shoulder pads will make me wide enough in the shoulders. But maybe because the hair is hanging on the sides it makes the mask look bigger. Either way I may be scared of my own suit after seeing this haha.

Looking forward to seeing your updates!

You can't go by a pic of a in groomed head on a regular body. Lady Rex keep at it

Like Matt said, the mask looks huge because the hair is floppy and un-groomed. I do plan on getting hockey shoulder pads when I start the shirt and grey areas.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I tried boiling some hair and while it straightened the hair, the ends quickly knotted together. Pre-cutting it would solve that, but I wasn't comfortable cutting yet. So I got a cheap hair straightener and it's been working great!

This is Frank. He holds CDs and wookie hair. Thanks Frank. Smile

After trying to straighten some hair at work, I found out that my "hot tongs" get way too hot here and it melted a bunch of the hair. Confused I found a good system of letting it heat up then turning it off, straighten some hair, rinse and repeat. /WookieTrials

I'M ALIIIIIIIIVE!

Last week, I pulled the wookiee out of the closet, getting back to worm after a too long hiatus. In the time away, I magically learned a more efficient way of latching and now I'm on a roll.
