According to the Jedi Assembly tutorials (and even the Staedtler website), the Staedtler Liquid pens for these should still be available somewhere . . . But I have ordered from several locations only to be refunded due to no supply. Does anyone have a stash or know of an actual vendor or location that has these?

Thanks.

I saw some a few weeks ago at Staples in Berry Hill suburb of Nashville. Try a Staples in your area?

They are still available. You can order directly from the Staedtler company, though I got mine off ebay. I'm about to start a project for making these. I've found a company that makes pen clips (yes...you read that right, pen clips!). If they can make pen clips similar to the Stadetler kind, I will order a bunch and then cast the pen caps in resin for a continuous and reliable supply of food capsules (well...as long as I make them, that is Wink ) But this project will be another month or two away. I'm working on belts now.

You can get the original ones from germany, they still sell them over here. But most smaller shops will not ship outside the EU.
But try this page from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_i_0?rh=k%3Astaedtler+liquid%2Ci%3Aoffice-products&keywords=staedtler+liquid&ie=UTF8&qid=1294821335. I'm not sure they ship to the States since most of the pens are offered at the marketplace. But I think it is worth a try. The usual prize you pay over here for one pen is about 1.40 Euro. That's what I found over here.

Or you wait until SithariRog finished his project and sells his foodcapsules based on the original ones.

I never thought that it is ever easier to get something for your costume over here in Germany. Most of the time I'm struggling to get the things that you find in nearly every store Laughing

Thanks, all. I have been trying to find these online (even couldn't on Staples.com). Finally broke down and went to my local Staples store and stocked up!!

Try a hobby shop or a model train store!

The Jedi Assembly has the exact model and info how to order from the manufacturer online. Problem is, there is a minimum to buy (I think it was 40). I'm looking into making inserts on a lathe at home then gluing the whole thing together and painting. wish me luck.

Do the food capsules HAVE to be made from the Staedtler pen caps, or can other items with a similar look and size be used?

Food capsultes do NOT have to be made from Staedtler pen caps.

They may have a similar look and size...for Generic Jedi (that is for non face characters).

For face characters, the food caps should be screen accurate. This means, you can do what ever you need to do to make them look like they were made from the Staedtler pen caps, but they don't have to be made from those particular pen caps.

From a judging point of view...as long as the look "right" on the belt, that is, they look like those used in the films or animated series, you're good. An LCJ isn't going to ask for a close up picture of your food capsules to see how they were constructed Wink

It looks as though Staedtler no longer makes the liquid point 415, 5, or 7. I can't find the pen on the staedtler website and the red version is the only one available on amazon and they are very expensive. Ebay is the only place I have found them. If anyone has any other sites or places they've found them let me know. Amadalia

Also, I use LaMode 7/16th shank buttons for the rounded bit.
