For your consideration I submit photos of me posing as Voort saBinring. Known as “Piggy”, he is a biogenetically altered Gamorrean first introduced in the Expanded Universe novel “X-Wing: Wraith Squadron” by Aaron Alliston. Piggy flew with Wraith Squadron in the New Republic era approximately 7 ABY to 44 ABY (per Wookiepedia).

Unfortunately, there is (to my knowledge) only one graphical depiction of Piggy in the EU literature: “The Official Star Wars Fact File #2” (weekly magazine published in the UK by DeAgostini). For this reason (lacking three references) I do not believe that a costume standard can be developed around Piggy for Rebel Legion approval.

However, I would like to get him RL approved for trooping so I do plan to submit Piggy as a “generic” non-human x-wing pilot in the near-immediate timeframe of ROTJ (approximately 7 ABY). There were no canon non-human x-wing pilots in the OT, but there were also no non-male human x-wing pilots in the OT (a sign of the times - late 70’s - perhaps?). Nevertheless, female x-wing pilots are (rightfully) RL approved. And TFA has clearly established that female x-wing pilots and non-human x-wing pilots exist in the canon approximately 40 ABY. So it seems a reasonable step to conclude that both female and non-human x-wing pilots existed in the OT era and could be RL approved.

Prior to submitting the photos I would enjoy and appreciate your feedback on the costume so that I can present the best-possible submission to the RL costume judges. Thanks!

That does look awesome. I remember watching the build of this before, I was very impressed.

If you're not going to submit as Voort (which I agree, it seems like there's only one reference of him in his X-wing suit) you might run into a couple problems submitting as a generic alien pilot... Mainly the ejection harness and flak vest. X-wing pilots don't have the silver hexagon on the harness and the front of the vest is missing the gap after the first two ribs at the top. I'd say that everything else would probably be acceptable.

So Alex has the sticking point. Piggy was built to match the single drawing representing him (see the final pic in the first post). This differs from a standard x-wing pilot in just a few ways:

- Flak vest lacks the gap in the ribs toward the top of the vest
- Chest box lacks a hose
- Ejection harness is non-standard
- Piggy has a vocoder around his neck which enables him to talk

I think those are the only variances.

I believe that I will do that just to get an official reading from the judges. At that point I'll make a decision as to next steps. Thanks for the feedback.

Caught me by surprise for a half second when I saw the pics. I'm building Ello Asty now.

Do you have a tutorial or link on how you made the boots? We have another future generic Gamorrean Pilot in our Base that is stuck in the boots...

I would refer you to "jango 5204" (Craig) further up in this thread. He built the boots and they were very well done. They should hold up well for trooping.

At barest minimum, wear it proudly at informal events. You did a great job!

As far as the rest, submit and see. personally, I'd be glad to troop next to you, but I'm not the strictest of people.
