Hey all! I'm looking for my first lightsaber to go along with my Jedi cosplay, not looking to spend a heap of money (costume is quite an invesment for me) so just curious if anyone knows any responsible priced sabers, or even anyone selling second hand ones? Ben

I am building my first saber through The Custom Saber Shop. I even decided to spring for a custom piece. I love that I can mix and match the parts to build whatever I want.

Just be aware that their stock was wiped out so they are in the process of restocking. "Patience you must have..." Yoda

I'll second TCSS. Their parts are top notch, and you can get exactly what you want. Everyone in the forums are very helpful.

If money is tight, you could start with a belt hanger (i.e. no electronics or blade), and add on later.

If money is really tight, you can always do a sink tube or PVC saber. You'll find help for that at the TCSS forums, too.

Welcome ClassyLass.

I too have just started out here. I had really good luck with Ultrasabers' Grab Bag option. I liked the one I got so much that I ordered a few more to switch the hilts/blade colors to what I like. Once I have 3 configured that I like, I should have 2 for sale for about $99 plus shipping which is what I paid for them.

If you're still in the market in a couple weeks, I'll link my For Sale thread for you.

Where is the grab bag option? Last time I checked the site I didn't see that link.

Are the grab bag sabers belt hangers or do they ever have electronics? Blades? Can they be upgraded with electronics later, or does that end up costing more than buying complete in the first place?

Hello Kman,

Here is the direct link for the grab bag option: https://www.ultrasabers.com/GrabBag-p/grabbag.htm

To briefly answer your questions, the grab bag option starts at $55 which would just be an empty hilt, no electronics, no belt hanger, etc.

The listing takes you through several blade options and other accessories that add to the price.

A fully decked out Grab Bag (Everything but sound and rechargeable batteries pretty much) runs about $99 which is still way cheaper than a hilt of the same caliber that you have chosen yourself. You take the risk by not knowing what physical hilt you will receive but you can still pick your blade color, add the covertec wheel, etc.

If you have any more questions, feel free to post back here or PM me.

Good luck!

I lean towards TCSS . jsut because if something breaks i can repair it myself ...

also with their new pre wired parts it is now easy to plug and play parts
