Event: Star Wars Night at PNC Park
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Date: 8/19/2015

Attendees - Rebel Legion:
• Anakin S. Walker (JJ Priano as "Jedi") (with temporary approval from the Ghost Base CO)
• Alarion Ero'neth (Spencer Huff as "Jedi")
• DWALLEN (Dan Allen as "Jedi")
• EnSaga (Samuel Gau as "Jedi")
• ghostbuster pirate (Tim Bentley as "Rebel Trooper")
• JediMasterPatrick (Patrick McClory as "Qui Gon Jinn")
• Tom_Kness (Tom Kness as "X-Wing Pilot")

Attendees - 501st Legion:
• firebatt (Joshua Murphy as "TIE Fighter Pilot")
• CMCHammer (Justin Cunningham as "Imperial Officer")
• sgt carida (Wally Peters as "Boba Fett")
• Toga Akdo (Tolga Akdogan as "TIE Fighter Pilot")
• … and many, many more!

This was a joint event with Garrison Carida of the 501st Legion at PNC Park in downtown Pittsburgh, and over 30,000 people were present for the game or for the event. This was the first time the Pirates have hosted a Star Wars Night, and as a result, this was the first time we participated. Overall, it was a well-organized, extremely fun event.

Because there were so many of us (at least 40-50 volunteers), and because the event was so massive, members from both organizations were split into two groups: Team Vader and Team Boba Fett. Most of the Ghost Base Jedi (Spencer, Patrick, Samuel, and JJ) and our lone Rebel Trooper (Tim) were assigned to Team Vader, while a few Ghost Base members (Dan and Tom) were assigned to Team Boba Fett. These groups participated in photoshoots with fans before the game and in between innings.

Members from both the 501st and the Rebel Legions also took turns tracking the strike outs from the game, as shown in the media coverage below.

Special Events:
Samuel Gau, JJ Priano, and I volunteered to judge a Star Wars-themed costume contest prior to the game in which 88 contestants entered. Patrick McClory also assisted with the contest, helping contestants walk up and down the stairs leading to the stage. Patrick also prevented some of the more eager participants from falling off the stage and getting hurt.

Organizer Feedback:
The PNC Park staff were grateful and supportive of our presence, and the staff treated us extremely well. We had at least one staff member with us at all times, who helped guide us around the stadium and provided us with security and crowd control. They also provided us with special “Star Wars Night” shirts after the event.
