Curious, how did you attach your armor to your shirt?

Strongbow:

We actually had the gunbelt made. To my recollection we got most of the materials at Tandy's leather. The buckle and the little metal clips are the pieces we were really looking for to be authentic. I know we got the blasters first to make the holster pattern fit exactly.

Navarre1095:

It's simply velcro. Sticky or glued onto the armor and sewn into the shirt.

do you have a paint list? or at least what colors you used. Also does the armor match the color of the top of the bucket, or the "face"

thanks for any help

Mike

We used Rustoleum:

1.Metallic Silver
2.Smoke Grey
3.Satin Aubergine

Valspar Plumberry

some generic Fire Red

and a 94 Naranja Lava

The Silver goes under everything. The Plumberry is the main color for the whole kit. The Aubergine is for the owl detail on the bucket. The 94 Orange is a really bright orange for those details. and the fire red goes over the center chest diamond piece.

This is great info! I just ordered a set of the armor from TMA, and commissioned Darth Cleavage to paint it. I have a source on the blasters.... now we need to figure out the rest.

We'll be doing this for my daughter who is almost 16 and has been looking for a RL/501st kit that would fit and work with her. She'll be ready when she is old enough to job, and she will join the Galactic Academy when finished.

It seems like Valspar Plumberry is insanely difficult to get these days...I can't find it in any local stores, and is no longer being sold by lowes online!

Does anyone have a close alternative color in spray paint? Or have an online source I can pick up the plumberry?

I really wanted to get through painting this weekend, but no dice Mad

Oh wow, didn't know that. I've actually been using the same can since the beginning. And I was looking into a deeper purple for the next set but it's a different base color. No idea really but I'm sure there's something similar out there. I'll let you know if I find anything anytime soon! I've recently discovered Orchard Supply Hardware and was able to find the Royal Blue I needed for the boys Jango helmet so maybe try that if there's one around.

this was a big help on my sabine helmet build. My WIP is over on The Dented Helmet. The ear cover for the lower part of the range finder is proving to be a challenge. [/url]
