This is a thread, supplementary to the announcement and details in the Event Planning thread, to organise and share details about the upcoming Armageddon convention. It's going to be a big one, so a bit more space and dialogue is needed, I think Smile

Important Dates, Times, and Information.

Show Hours:
Friday Oct 23th – 6pm to 9pm
Saturday Oct 24th and Sunday Oct 26th – 10am to 6pm
Monday Oct 27th – 10am to 5pm

EXHIBITOR ACCESS: Gate 1 will be opened for exhibitors at 8am Saturday and 9am Sunday and Monday, each morning prior to the commencement of the show.

Pavilion Closure: All public entrances to the show will be secured 15 minutes after closing time and all exits locked 30 minutes after closing time. Please ensure all exhibition personnel have vacated the exhibition halls by 6.30pm.

Set-up times:
Friday 24th October - 8.00am to 5.00pm
...however, the first load of materials is not due before about 10:30am, and there will be no-one there to hand out passes prior to that.

Breakdown times:
Monday 27th October 5pm to 8pm
Tuesday 28th October 8.30am to Noon ONLY
...assistance during breakdown is at least as appreciated as during set-up Smile

Best times to pick up passes:
Phone MattG when you are on the Expo premises - 0274-988-789.
Friday 10:30am-2:30pm, 4:30pm-6pm.
Saturday 9am-10am.
Sunday 9am-10am.
Outside of these hours, we will try and accommodate you, but it does become more logistically challenging to monitor phone calls and get to the gates to find people once the Expo has opened.

As always, we have limited passes. Full 501st/Rebel Legion members will be given priority, and if you are not attending on all days, please return your pass to MattG or Phil/Tarragon.

Following on from the success of the previous few years, we're hosting an Auckland social event on the Saturday of Armageddon weekend.

The Combined Star Wars Fan Club Armageddon Dinner.

All 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, and Star Wars New Zealand members are invited. RSVP here or by PM.

Location: Birkenhead (PM for address). Post here if you need to car-pool, or can offer someone a ride from the proximity of the expo centre.
Time: anytime after the expo closes (6pm). Coming direct from the convention centre is fine. Dinner will be served around 8:30pm.
Details: We will supply meat for a BBQ. Contributions in the form of salads, soft drinks, desserts, cold meats etc are appreciated (please, nothing that requires oven heating/cooking).

Come along to mingle with fellow Star Wars fans, costumers, and collectors from all around New Zealand.

Catch up with Matt or Kristy at the Armageddon convention if you need more details.

If any out-of-towners are looking for transport to the dinner on Saturday night, there are a few people who have space in their vehicles - discussion is here: http://swnz.dr-maul.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1410

(Cross-posted from the Outpost-42 forums)

Name of Event: Auckland Armageddon Expo 2014
Date and Time: October 24-October 27 2014
Location: ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane
Charity: Child Cancer Foundation

Troopers: Matt G, Phil T, Jason W, Fran W, Steve/Snibo, Craig H, Hadleigh M, Andrea F, Craig C, Sam/Eng76, Jonathan S, Freddy C, Josh Mac, Peter H, Stu/Falconman, JohnnyB, Jon P, Carl G, Liam G, Clint/Howling Krayt, Tamsyn, Richard S, Richard W, Son-Of-Richard W, MattT, Andre, Zane T, Sam P, Mat B, Juliet G, Adam C, Wayne C.

Trooper Support: (Wranglers/Photographers/Information Table): Kristy G, Krystiarna, Tania C, Lou

^ That's 36 costumers and support crew involved! Smile (apologies if I've inadvertently missed anyone...just let me know if that list needs updating).

Troop Report: One of the bigger events on the trooping calendar, Auckland Armageddon convention continues to grow and attract a progressively bigger audience. Apparently there was something like 70 thousand people estimated to have come through the halls over the 4 days of the event.

It was great to have troopers and support staff coming in from all around the country. Setting up and breaking down were accomplished by way of great team efforts, making the process relatively smooth. Our changing space was tight, but throttling its use meant that there were good numbers of troopers at the booth, information table, and wandering at all times. The gridlock and associated noise had moments where they were were challenging, and with a bit of luck the organisers will continue to try and implement solutions to address that, but on the whole, the atmosphere was positive.

Many kilograms of coin and paper donations were delivered to the Child Cancer Foundation today, where they were received with much appreciation. I'll post the final donation tally when it becomes available in the next day or two.

I don't want to minimize or omit acknowledging anyone's contributions, but a few special thanks are needed: the original Christchurch crew who made the Death Star Console set (Antony H, Andy C, and Andy Mc), Freddy for sorting out the AV technology, Rob C for organising the covered trailer and tow vehicle necessary to bring it all in, Jason W for the assistance with freight logistics on the Chch end, Craig H for additional essential booth components.

I've put an assortment of photos up here: http://swnz.dr-maul.com/moretext.php?folder=2014/aucklandarmageddon2014
