UPDATES ARE IN RED!!!

Greetings, fellow Rebels!

We have yet another costume opportunity. This time it’s for the 4th of July parade in Bartlett, IL. (The actual parade will be held on SUNDAY, JULY 2nd, 2006.) I don’t have all the specifics on where we're supposed to meet, or what the actual parade route is. However, I will make sure to post that information as soon as I get it.

All Star Wars costumes are welcome. If you are interested in attending, PLEASE POST YOUR AVAILABILITY AND WHAT COSTUME YOU WILL BE WEARING .

So far, along with many Imperials, Phyllis (Schph Gochi) and I will both be attending this year. We hope you can join us!!

May the Force Be With You!

Updates are in RED!!!
_________________________________________________
For the 4th year in a row, we were invided to be part of the 4th of July parade in Barttlett IL. It will be SUN July 2nd 2006.

NEW POSTING FROM TK118 of 501st Midwest Garrison:
PLEASE SEE LIST BELOW! We still need more food, and other postions filled.

Anyone have someone who can do video or photos?

Everyone bring a folding chair

We will need people a bit earlier to help assemble float.

I will be busy in the AM trying to get all the stuff to the parade site. I need to get marshmallows there and all the other stuff, So I'll probibly need to make a couple of trips.

WE ALSO NEED a person or two to watch tent and stuff durring parade. Anyone up for this. please.

Float, Yes, I think Vader R2 and kids should be on it. But kids should be sitting, not standing on it. Safty first. IF your child will be on float, you will need to be on flote with them. I can not stress safty enough here!!

We NEED to be READY to go at noon, we should all be at OUR staging area at 11am. (32 N. Elroy St)

This means those helping with assembly of float should meet in the Metra Lot BEFORE THEN. Lets say 9am to make sure.
Greg and I will be working on tent and setting all that up., So those who have things that need to be put with tent, food ect make sure I have them. Grills food ect. I will also be at metra lot at 9am.

SHUTTLE - THEY WILL BE CLOSING OFF PARADE ROUTE EARLY, So anyone who wants to drop their car off at the end of parade route do so as early as posible. Myself and hopefully someone else will be making runs back and forth BEFORE 11AM !!!

I'm thinking marshmallows can be in the bed of the pick up Jim is driving (pulling the flote) We will beed a couple people in there to open boxes and hand bags to those passing them out.

Anyone doing video? I have a cam if someone can shoot footage.

METRA LOT ADDRESS - Oak Ave. and Railroad Ave. (630) 837-2681

OUR Staging Area - 32 N. Elroy St.

OK to make things CLEAR LOL

1. Address for OUR staging area and Metra lot are above....
2. We should all be at the staging area AND READY NO LATER than 11:30pm - 12 Parade stards at 1
3. Those coming early to help assemble float should meet in metra lot by 10am LATEST
4. People wanting to have their car at the END of the parade route should leave their gear NOT TOTES at out staging area (their will be plenty of us there to watch it) then take your tote, FOOD, car and other stuff to end of parade rout. We will have someone making runs back and forth to shuttle people back to the start. This way we all have our cars right there when we are done. No need to walk all the way back to get them. IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS DO IT EARLY! As they close off street for parade at 12 !
5. I will be VERY BUSY getting marshmallows, helping set up tent and grill and getting other stuff ready, so I need you all to handle what you can like cars, kids and float.
6. If at all posible, can kids be in costumes. After all flote if decked out for STAR WARS. If not Its OK, but just think it would be better.
7. Kids on float MUST SIT! and have an adult there. I CAN NOT STRESS SAFTY ENOUGH.
8. LETS HAVE A GREAT TIME!

<img src="http://s2.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif" width=284>

Lets plan on gropup shoto at 12:15 by float. Everyone PLEASE be there and ready.

This year thay are asking that ANY vehicles in the parade BE DECORATED.
This year it looks like we will have a small float Thanks to Marstoq. THANKS MAN! He also has a truck to pull it with.

Have a look at the list below. PLEASE help us make this the most FUN year yet and help out. Any Star wars costume is fine. Again Only ONE vader please, 2 just looks silly.

http://www.village.bartlett.il.us/calendar/calendar/cal.cfm?Date=20060700

The Parade Route...
1.88 Miles Long
Staging for participants in the parade is done along North Ave. east of Oak Ave.
The parade then begins near Bartlett Park along North Ave. and makes
it's first turn at Oak Ave. The parade then follows Oak Ave. south,
crossing over the tracks. Once over the tracks the parade follows Main
St./South Bartlett Rd. south until it makes its last turn at Stearns Rd.
by Apple Orchard Park, heading west.

NEW MAP of route (shows Staging Area, Metra Lot, END Parking & Tent (BBQ) locations :
http://tk118.com/images/past/4th06/Parade_route_updated.jpg

Again... most people are parking their cars at the END of the route (that's where the BBQ will be) and then we will have some people there to shuttle the participants to the beginning of the route BEFORE 11:00AM.

I'm in!   Wouldn't miss it!

As far as costume....dunno right now.....I have been working at "turtle speed" on my armor....but somehow I don't think that a parade is a good time to test out the armor...and at the rate I am going....I have my doubts about if it will be finished...lol....

I will probably wear Jedi again....and...since we are usually busy handing out candy/marshmallows to the crowd....don't bother bringing your FX....you will have your hands full.....

Yeah, and from what I hear, this parade goes quite a distance.  Debuting your armor probably wouldn't be the best choice at this event.

And the FX will definitely be staying home for this one.  Gotta "toss" out those marshmallows!!  Besides, it will be nice to not have to carry it.  And it's not like you can see it lit up during the day anyway.  A white "pole" with a hilt just doesn't have the same effect.

Eric and Augie...so glad to meet you and I hope that we have many more occasions to costume in the future.......there is still time to sign up for the Brookfield Zoo event...I will be finishing that up a little later this week.....

I am sorry that I didn't get any photos....I was so busy running around...and when we made the last trip to the park at the end of the route...to my horror ...it occured to me that I left my camera in the truck....

but Blue and Trent got heaping gobs of photos...and when the link is posted...I will post it...

Thank  you Whinter for organizing our Rebels....this parade is a great deal of fun...so mark your calendars early for next year....

Sorry I'm a little late on my "Thank You"s.  But I really do want to express my gratitude to all the Rebels (and Rebel spies .....you know who you are  ) that joined us for this event.  This was indeed a ton of fun!!  I can't wait for next year.  Hopefully we can get some more RL members to come out next year.  The Rebels may have been outnumbered this time, but maybe next year we can even it up!!

Like Schph mentioned in her post above, KEEP THIS EVENT IN MIND FOR NEXT YEAR!!  It's a blast!!!!

Here are some pictures from Sunday's parade (most are from the staging area):
