I'm starting on Mustafar Padme soon, I wanted a judge's opinion on these boots. I was going to purchase some riding boots at Payless, but I soon found that the zipper was on the outside and I know that does not meet the standards, so I began searching for new suitable boots or ones that I could modify.
I found boots for sale on ebay, that have a piece on top that folds down. The boots come in 3 colors: black, brown and tan. I'm not sure if I should buy tan color or the brown color. The brown color looks very dark to me, almost black. I know that Padme's mustafar boots are brown, but I don't know if this color is TOO brown.
Here are the brown boots:

And here are the tan boots:

As for the tops of the boots that fold down, I think I will glue them folded down inside the boot so that they never accidentally pop out during a troop.

here is a pic of her boots from an exhibit.
The tan boot looks best from those photos, but the boots should be suede or faux sude.
7. Low-heeled, riding style plain dark brown suede or faux suede boots. Zippers must be hidden

Thanks, actually I had this discussion with a judge before. The boots are clearly not suede, they are leather. The judge was glad I pointed that out ans she agreed that they clearly are not suede.

Ideally something a bit less shiny if you can find them, but the style is correct.

When I'm looking for costume boots, I usually check amiclubwear.com
they have a large selection of boots so you might find what you're looking for there.

I found these boots for my wife's mustafar. Pretty close I would say? Now I just need to hunt down boots for the battle arena with the right tread pattern/color.

As I also work on this costume now I have two candidates for the boots:

first one is suede with short inner zipper, will need to cut down the upper part, or the second one no zipper just needs to remove the buckle I guess, its this kind of raw leather, which one you think is better? :

1.

2.
