Wedge.

I like Wedge.

He is one of my favorite more-developed-in-the-EU characters, along with Biggs (and Aayla).

mindtrick You want to do Wedge.

So, this is the second flight suit I've had made (the first being my TIE Pilot) with the old pocket patterns found here on the RL pilots forums. I wound up fudging the dimensions of the pockets quite a bit from the size listed on the patterns on both of my flight suits to get them to look the appropriate size on me.

In making both flight suits, I couldn't help but think how some of the patterns we all use here on the RL forums and elsewhere are almost illegible...

http://s211.photobucket.com/user/JediXXL/library/Echo%20Base%20Helmet%20Building/X-Wing%20Flightsuit%20Tutorial

So, I took it upon myself to draw up some cleaner versions of these patterns for my own use and for others who wanted some good pattern dimensions to work from. Cool

Let me know if you guys can't view the PDF in that link and I'll see about changing the permissions for it.

You know me... engineers love AutoCAD. Mr. Green I'll probably create a similar PDF for the TIE Pilot Patterns (which are *slightly* different), and I may try and make a set of PDFs that you can just print and cut out to make your patterns with, a la boba fett armor templates.

Do you guys think these would be good additions to the Pilots resources?

Great work on the vest, Brent. That is a very tedious project!

Almost... There...

So, any suggestions?

The helmet still needs most of the paint, and the com pad isn't painted yet.

How does one attach the tube from the chest box to the flight suit? Its just tucked into the pocket in those pictures...

On my dad and my flight suits we have pockets sewn in the inside that has a large magnet. On the end of the hose, we have an elbow joint that has a washer with a few rare earth magnets glued on. With this set up the hose will magnetize to the magnet in the flight suit, and will just stay in place.

You can see how it hangs in this picture.

The black thing on the hose is the elbow joint, I'm not sure what size it is, I think when we bought ours we just took a section of the hose with us to Lowes and compared it to everything until we found something that worked.

Here are some pictures of the setup.

Hose Connector

Hope this help, everything is looking good.

Have you tried walking up and down stairs with the ejection straps on? They look like they are hanging a little below your knees, and might catch and hook your leg when taking the stairs. Mine used to hang in the same place and at the St. Patrick's Day parade, I had to hop down the stairs to get to Underground Atlanta, because my straps caught my legs. Not a fun experience.

There's basically 2 ways to approach it, one being the tuck into the pocket which is perfectly acceptable, and actually what is preferred if you are doing the Snowspeeder Jacket pilot version. You don't want the hose to bunch up the bottom of the jacket by going back up under the jacket.

The second way is to simulate this look,

by adding a PVC plumbing elbow to the end of the hose with a rare earth magnet that attaches to another magnet inside your suit.

I also added a rubber gasket to the end of mine:
