I know I'm not a pilot yet (X-wing is on the to do list after I finish my jedi), but on the boots vs shoes......my vote is definitely boots. If you look at various characters wearing pants in the star wars universe, many of them are wearing tall boots with pants tucked in. Yes, I know there are examples of pants and shoes (Lando). I just mean that is seems like tall boots are more in the majority in star wars. The empire used tall boots for their military, and many in the new republic military were ex-Imps. So it would make sense that the tall boot style carried over....it's what they were used to. That's just my two cents....but I'm also very much a boots girl myself.... _________________ Jedi - Great Lakes Base

Just wanted to say those badges look fantastic, the one with the black backing being my favorite. I have to move this costume up on the to-do list now.
My own two creds:
Either pants and a turtleneck or bodystockingish type thing or leggings and turtleneck depending on personal preference. I like the idea of a two-piece type "underlayer" for personal comfort and convenience purposes.
Boots, either pilot or knee height riding type and with a lower heel.
The "sash" extending to the hem at front and back.
Epaulets? Eh I'm good either way. |

be a uniform, my suggestion is to use riding boots, tall boots, because they are more stylish, just as I have seen colleagues with beret, in this uniform, but honestly, being a dress uniform look better with keepi military one, as the photo that I show.
about the high-collared shirt, if collar, would be more elegant,
the same belt, I fajilla exchange for a gray leather with golden buckle.

but when you have large feets (like i have 47.5) is it hard to find that kind of boots ... in belgium / europe. the only one who have them are not allowed to sale them to civilians, they are only for the police / military for parades.
i have not the luxery to order boots online, without first testing them. i have two hip prothesis and bad knees with necrose.
i went to a larp store in the Netherlands.
that are these one:

Would it be okay ...
Red : 3" = 7.62 cm ... that i go for 8 cm = 3.1 inch
Grey : 4.5" = 11.43 cm ... that i go for 12 cm = 4.7 inch
Because this is easy'r to cut.
We don't have inch ruler.

That'd be fine. We can't measure submission photos - it just needs to look close to specs. =)

well i have to remake the red and grey, the red would be to small for the rankbar effect
and the grey was testing, i'm not happy with the effect of it. |

i'm back again ...
about the hat ... i have something of a yes, but at the sametime no ... it looks to hmmm i don't know how to say in correct english, it makes look the costume more ' stricter ' than a dress uniform ... it should look more zen.
but i don't say not no for the hat, why not go for something like this:
this make the uniform looks more class and lesser strict ... only i think it would not be easy to find those hats (i think).
as also as this is a ' pilot ' costume, why not go with a red winged rebel crest pin (if they still are available)
- - - - - - - - -
About the rankbar, is it okay i make contact with the maker to order one? |

Since this uniform is never seen with a hat there won't be one listed in the Standards. However, informally we've seen members wear a black beret with this uniform in the past. _________________ Jon Paulson • Cmdr. Tag "HazardThree" Greenly

lol..
glad I found this because this costume is probably my next costume...
I don't really read the comics and have no strong opinions on it...
so I will just watch to see what is decided before I make any moves.
Also, very interested in one of those rank badges....
I have several other OT Trooper rank badges/greeblies on my to do list for sculpting and mold making...and would rather not add another...

the shadow is not necessary, but makes it look more elegant uniform,
because they are afraid to try something?
it is assumed that everything is valid expanded universe.
I have seen no canon costumes, fantastic, but given the formalisms, are left out of the legions, that's a shame. |
