Hello all!

My name's Chris, I'm from Ottawa and have been a member of the R2 builders club for a while, building my own astromech.

After attending the Ottawa Comicon I decided that building an r2 wasn't enough... and that once he's done, he'd want to troop with me.

So I've set out to make some costumes. Obviously, with an r2, a pilot makes mosts sense, so I'll probably start with that. I was pointed over here from some of the members of the CapitalCity501st.

This is my first venture in costume making, but I'm eager and can't wait to start.

Hey brother- If there is anything I can do to help you put an xwing cozzie together please get in touch with me. I've helped others here and would be pleased to help you too. There's an aurora squadron number waiting for you if you want to do a high quality pilot! R2 builders are known to be pretty choosy with their builds so I'm sure we'll get along great! LOL. Welcome to the group brother!

Welcome to the "soft" side of Star Wars trooping Wink

(meaning 'soft' costumes as opposed to R2 hardware ha ha! Not because we're softies LOL.)

Well it's officially started!
I now have my bucket kit and chest box bought. Which is great since my R2 now has a head and I feel like he's judging me for not having started this yet.

Still looking for a flight suit, since one person hasn't been getting back to me... and well the one piece I think I'll have trouble finding... size 13 boots.

Anyway. Can't wait to be done and trooping Smile

Size 13 boots will be a little tricky, but you can wear them for both the Rebel and Tie Pilot costumes.

Tie fighter pilots are part of the 501st Legion's Jolly Rogers detachment. Get yourself registered on their forum and then have a look at this:

http://www.jrsforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=105&t=8134

It's a collection of boot vendors links, and some offer size 13.

You'll just want to make sure you get the correct (approvable) kind of boot by reviewing the tie pilot CRL first:

I now finally have everything on it's way, except for gloves... I was pointed to a store not too far from here that might possibly have some that meet the requirement...

My helmet kit is waiting... but thanks to it being Easter Monday, I won't get it till tomorrow.

So the helmet kit and chestbox arrived this week.
I'll be assembling the helmet this weekend. Still trying to decide on a paint job for it.

The chest box is set up with Bigg's configuration, but I'm not sure if I want to paint the bucket that way...

There are many pilots in Red Squadron, pick one and do up your bucket like that! I'm sure some of the other pilots can suggest one to do.

yeah.. started airbrushing it on sunday... going with a Luke style, but slightly modified, since I'm not making a hero one.

Found the gloves on the weekend and the boots arrived yesterday.
Belt is done.

So now it's to wait for the com, suit and flares to arrive
