A while back I was working on a rank badge and came up with a non-commissioned officer system that would work (in my own mind anyway) and I put together a working copy. The first mock up I made used little wooden circles to make up the rank pips. They were meh at best and after doing some research found that some people have used bingo chips. I finally got around to ordering a bunch and updated the badge with them yesterday and here is the result. The only thing that bothers me is that you can see the swirly mess that is the contact cement, other than that, it's okay. Also note, this would only be used for informal events.

(apologies for just the link, but when I attached the photo itself, it was enormous on screen and I figured I would spare you all that)

It looks really good...

I made a few rank badges for my Rebel Fleet Commander and Endor Rebel Commander...
and...
there are things that I don't like about my effort either...lol...

we are always our own worst critics...
and if someone gets that close to you to see the swirls of the cement...
they might need to back off...

Laughing

Nicely done! I never could get a rank badge to look good. Well done!

Are you going to make more, offer them up?

Looks nice, MacRican!
What is the size of your rank badge, and what diameter do those bingo chips have?

Is it possible to get blue bingo chips, too? I don´t know this as we don´t play bingo here... Razz

I found a site of one of our members a long while back that had dimensions of their build. I wrote them in my phone for safe keeping Smile

the badge itself is 2.79" x 2.79" and the chip size is 7/8". I'm assuming that is the size on the site, because that is the size that I had saved in my ebay list forever ago. The bingo chips do come in blue, I did a quick search and his the search link:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=blue+bingo+chips&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Also, for the back, I used magnets that had adhesive backs so I wouldn't have to put a whole through my vest.

I knew it was here somewhere! The RFT section of "Rebel Fleet Trooper-what you need to know" it is talked about in this thread: http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35950 and the direct link to the tutorial (if you don't want to read through) is below.

Wow, thats pretty large.
I made 2 versions, the large one with 6,3x6,3cm and the blue "dots" with 1,5cm. This was...too big in my eyes, so I made a smaller one with 5,8x5,8cm, blue diameter the same...when wearing it the smaller one fits better together with the RL name badge.

I soon will make some pics with all my ranks&comms&names together...

Thanks for your info, MacRican!
