So I'm planning on having a jawa ready for CEII, much easier to transport than my female tusken. As usual I'm stuck in a place far away from any kind of fabric store, so I need to turn to webshops for finding fabrics. The most suitable fabric I found this far is this:

I'm not sure about the colour but it's also available in an ecru colour

So I'm thinking it would be better to buy that and then dye it myself.

The size of the pic is 8x8 cm.

Am I on the right track here, would that kind of fabric be ok for a jawa?

Most people buy the ecru and hand dye it. Is the first picture a soft material? Some folks mistakenly use burlap and it is so very itchy!

It's an upholstery chenille fabric, so it's defintely not burlap or something like that.

I'd go for the ecru and hand dye.

I just did exactly that... bought the ecru and dyed it. Make sure you wash the fabric first to get all the sizing out and while it's wet, put it in the dye bath (make sure its VERY hot water you use to make it). What I did was soaked it for an hour, then rinsed it, then soaked it again in the same dye bath. The fabric seems much more evenly toned now. Also make sure you agitate it. I did that every ten minutes. My build "blog" is in my signature Smile

(Hope everyone doesn't mind my jumping in here Smile, I'm building a Jawa as well!)
